We stayed in a Penthouse A Suite 1402 on the British Isles cruise which ends tomorrow.  Lots of movement and vibration.  We have stayed in 1406 on Explorer on a Baltic Cruise but did not have as much vibration, rattling and motion.  We like the 14th floor because it is very private but given the discomfort on this cruise, we will not stay this high again.  We booked a 9th floor suite for our next cruise as a result.

I've been watching this thread...  we were originally booked in 1401 on Explorer for a recent cruise.  A couple of weeks before sailing, I noticed a PH-A opened up on Deck 9 and we opted for that instead.

We were eager to experience a suite on such a high deck, and suspected it would indeed be private.  However, in the back of my mind I was thinking about possible movement as well as the remoteness of the Deck 14 location.

The Deck 9 PH we switched to was in one of the 'bump out' sections of the ship and had a fablous, large balcony.  What a treat.

Recently returned from Southampton to Barcelona on Splendor and we’re in 1402.

we did not experience any noise or vibration at all.

However when speaking to the future cruise consultant about another voyage he suggested that on a sailing through choppy waters we would definitely be more comfortable on a lower deck.

Perhaps  your choice of suite location might change depending on the voyage.

We just finished Southampton to Southampton, and Southampton to Barcelona on Splendor. The seas were high on many days, and we were happy to be in our deck 6 cabin near the front elevators rather than upfront on deck 14.

In hurricane season, the storms that make a north turn after coming off the coast of Africa (which we always hope for since we live in Florida) head up far enough to affect the British Isles, the English channel and the coast of Spain and Portugal. We missed several ports due to high waves, and the restaurants on deck 10 and 11 were doing some rolling. Compass Rose and the Coffee Connection were much more stable, although they did board up the starboard windows in Compass Rose for a few days.
