When I’ve booked directly online with the airlines (most recently American and Air Canada), I can see what seats are available at that moment. On American, it’s “View Seats”

Most have a View Seats function along with flight details or notes.

On United you can I just did you have to go like you are paying but before you pay you can pick your seats.. With Celebrity most of the time but not all they can book seats while you are booking the flights. I always go on Kayak and check first then call Celebrity and check with them.
