Cancelling a booked cruise question

I came back from my September 3 cruise on the seashore with Covid. Not saying I got it on the ship but I did take the test two days before the cruise and it was negative.   Lots of people on the FB group for that cruise also said they had it.

I decided to cancel my booked January cruise and take a break from cruising for a while. I called and canceled and was told I would receive a email confirmation that it was canceled.  I never got it. This was yesterday. Today I still don’t have it. When I called again yesterday they said it takes a “few seconds”  I don’t know if they’re talking about me getting the invoice that shows the deposit and the balance due or a simple email of the fact that it’s canceled or what?

I was told it would take one to 60 days to get my deposit back.

My main concern of course is getting my deposit back and having proof I canceled in time. I did however check my account online and it showed the booking was no longer recognized. Should I be concerned or just let it ride? Thanks for any useful answers besides MSC customer service is horrendous. I’ve never had any problems to be truthful.

Check your spam folder too if you haven’t already.

For reference,  we cancelled an MSC Jan 2022 cruise a week before the cruise because of Omicron at that time and we did get an email that same day confirming our cancellation.
The full amount for the cruise was credited within 10 days (because they changed our itinerary and dates and offered us a full refund). We were lucky we didn’t have to take a FCC.

Definitely recommend you  call them again today and ask them to email you that info while you’re on the line with them.  It shouldn’t take this long.

Sorry you caught Covid. I caught it on our Pearl cruise in April (hubby got it on board and I got it when we got home) but that was a school vacation cruise so the ship was packed. 😏

Glad you posted this, I was told that along with 1 or 2 billing cycles. I got a confirmation, it looks just like the booking confirmation when you open it, but all the lines say cancelled, 0 balance - $398 (or whatever paid).

I had booked a cruise with my 30% discount and 5% , the 5 came off but the next day it was put back (this after submitting the info requested on reply email to casino) So I called to find out what was going on. It seems their system was not counting the 9 months the same as me, so the discount wouldn't work, they could get it to work on the next cruise one week before, so they cancelled the on cruise and replaced it with the working cruise.

Different reasons, but it seriously makes me nervous, as it isn't a "real" cancellation.

Sammee are you saying you won’t get your deposit back or you won’t get your 30% discount back?  I assumed I lost my 400,000 points canceling the cruise using my Vegas points because it’s my understanding once you cancel a cruise with MSC you don’t get them back. I just want my deposit back I’m not worried about the points.  I was assured I would get my deposit back but I’ll read over the documentation.

That's odd.

So you are still going on a cruise but you paperwork states 0?

Did you log into your account and see if the new one is there?

Knowing how MSC screws up everything I wonder if you are even booked.

If not, you will probably never get the 30% back.

Guess I didn't add enough to my response. It says cancellation on that booking # even though it looks like a confirmation for new booking, the deposit amount changed to 0. I also have my new booking with a new number. It really is strange. The title of the email in the subject line does state cancellation on the old number along with several areas on the attached notice. The number no longer works on the webpage but the new one does. I just have to wait it out. Also getting stranger, twice last week the casino emailed me wanting the booking number info. Twice I gave the complete info about old and new, thanking them and letting them know the discount was applied to new booking and to let me know if they needed more info. I just don't get it.  My new booking is correct online shows amount, OBC, etc.

Then you should be fine if it's showing online.
