A ROYAL November: LIVE from Mariner/Liberty/Indy/Mariner OTS

Recommended Posts

So pretty disturbing scene I just witnessed at sabor.

In line to check in. In front of me is a woman who I would describe as good looking and wearing a nice cocktail dress.

She makes a reservation for one. The host says just for one. She says yes. He goes, really you are all alone.

I'm thinking to myself no way is he being creepy it's just my twisted mind. She walks away and I am at the front of the line. He does not acknowledge me but instead watches her leave, literally until she is out of sight.

What a creep.

I know the crew enjoy being mentioned by name in the surveys I might have to mention Harry.

Creepy.

Bon Voyage!!!

Let us know how the ship is...  CC appears divided between "Liberty is a Dump!" vs "Liberty could use a Dry Dock but it's still a Nice Ship!"

I sure will! It's not a dump by any means but so far,  my impression is yes it is in need of a dry dock. Lots of little things and just a general "tired" feeling around the ship. I'll be sure to give a full assessment at the end of this leg of the trip.

Dinner was good. I haven't made it to the gym yet today so I'm gonna run to that since they will be closing soon.

I'll have dinner pics later.

On a side note, upload speeds on here with starlink are amazing. I noticed no difference from speeds this afternoon on my data.

The casino was definitely not kind. I will probably sit the rest of the cruise out.

The long day and the free casino drinks have caught up to me and I need sleep in my life immediately 😴.  I will post sabor tomorrow.

Speaking of tomorrow, it is coco cay redemption day!

Good night everyone.

I ended up taking  a quick nap. First time I have ever taken a coffee nap and it worked very well for me I'm very refreshed now.

Going to miss sailaway because we have not left yet. The captain said they are working on a maintenance issue. No idea what that means.

Off to sabor for dinner.

I have taken one coffee nap.....I was visiting my mom’s old Italian nanny in Naples.....I had 3 espressos by lunch time.....SO TIRED hahahah

Back on the ship after spending a couple hours on coco cay.

Let's back up to last night's dinner. I was excited to try Sabor since I've only eaten there one time on harmony.

Let me start by saying I wasn't even a little hungry yet when I sat down for dinner but I had a reservation so I ate anyway.

First they brought me some guac and chips.

20221114_174417-X2.jpg

This was very good and I'm already full.

Avacado margarita but with grey goose because I don't drink tequila.

20221114_174722-X2.jpg

This was good especially with the salt rim but you couldn't really taste the avacado and I imagine with a liquor as strong tasting as tequila the avacado flavor definitely doesn't come through.

Chicken stuffed jalapeño wrapped in bacon.

This was literally perfect 🥰.  Chicken stuffed jalapeño wrapped in bacon covered in a delicious sauce on top of another delicious sauce. A++

Pan seared snapper.

20221114_180738-X2.jpg

This was very good and I wish I was hungrier to enjoy it better.

Beef barbocoa tacos.

 20221114_180746-X2.jpg

These were not good. The tacos were stale and the meat was very dry.

Yucca fries.

20221114_180800-X2.jpg

I'm not sure I've had these before so maybe I just don't like yucca but these weren't great. I think a better sauce could have saved them but the habenero pineapple sauce for dipping was weird and not good.

For dessert they bring four small desserts inadked for just one and got peer pressured into two lol.

Churros and Carmel flan.

20221114_182713-X2.jpg

I was way too stuffed to give these a fair analysis at this point. I was just shoving food in my mouth for the sake of it 🤪

Overall this was a good meal. But they have lost their minds to charge $40 for this meal. It was pretty empty and the reason this is a failed concept is the ridiculous charge.

Let's be serious, Mexican food is cheap. There is no reason this needs to cost this much. It was $20 for me with my discount and even that it is asking a little too much when dinner is already included.

They also have Americanized the spices too much.

Almost everything I ordered was denoted as being spicy but I detected not even a hint of heat in anything but the stuffed jalapeño. Even that was only the faintest hint of heat.

The habenero pineapple dip had a weird heat to it. More like it stung my taste buds but with no discernable flavor to accompany it.

Like I said I did enjoy it though and I am going back again tonight since I won't have the chance very often to eat at sabor.

I love coco cay. They've done a great job with it. Its about the only island I get off at anymore and certainly the only one I still do after so many repeat visits.

Freedom was with us today.

You know the weather is nice when the baloon is actually up and running.

I probably had that booked 10 times before it wasn't canceled. Very cool experience but something you only need to do once.

Even if it's just for the lunch, I always get off to eat. The food here is by far better than any free food anywhere on the ship.

I tried to go easy so I can enjoy dinner more tonight.

I ordered a coco Loco for the first time.

20221115_124037-X2.jpg

I tried but I just could not drink this it was so bad. I think my bartender had a heavy hand because I didn't really see much but alcohol. Great for most people I'm sure lol. It just tasted like mystery fruit flavored cough syrup. Hard pass.

Not the greatest view while I tried to swallow my alcohol, but a perfect shady spot for me.

I walked around the island a little bit until I started feeling the sun then made my way back.

There was a guitar player doing some tunes as I passed by captain Jack's and i almost stopped for spell to try another drink, but I decided to pass for now. Maybe this weekend.

Heading back.

That's funny, we love the food on Cococay so much (taco bar, chicken sandwiches, funnel cake) that we don't expect to be super hungry for dinner on those days.

We're returning to cruising after many years busy with other pursuits ... Joining Mariner on Thursday ... we dont have any status (yet) ... but are there any tips/tricks/secrets that we can enjoy on our quick journey??

Thanks so much for your "reporting" ... helping me get excited!

I arrived at sabor 30 minutes after they opened and I was the first one to arrive. Seriously gotta lower that price.

Starting off with the chips and guacamole again.

20221115_180155-X2.jpg

Also ordered the bacon wrapped jalapeño stuffed chicken again.

20221115_180652-X2.jpg

Just as amazing as last time.

Jalapeño cucumber margarita made with grey goose.

20221115_180955-X2.jpg

I preferred the flavor of that one over the avacado but wish it had the salt rim like the other one.

El Juarez quesadilla.

20221115_183041-X2.jpg

This was very good.

Spicy (not spicy) chicken flauta.

20221115_183048-X2.jpg

This was nothing special. Not bad but not something something would get again.

Calabacitas.

20221115_183250-X2.jpg

This made a great filler but I didn't need a filler so probably wouldn't get this again either.

For dessert I had the banana and chocolate chimichanga.

20221115_184900-X2.jpg

This was my favorite dessert. Very tasty.
