Haven boarding Pan Am Pier, San Juan

Looking for information about Haven boarding in San Juan.  Have read posts about boarding in other ports but I have not seen anything posted about San Juan specifically.   Like many others whose posts I have read (most several times), I spend a lot of time planning (old school, mostly pencil/paper) and any information would assist in my planning.

We have not cruised out of Pan Am pier for about 4 years.  There was not a real designated lounge for Haven pre boarding rather an area to one side where the folks who purchased the priority boarding package congregated along with Haven guests. We were only waiting for around 10 minutes or so, real fast boarding. Like I said this was about 4 years ago things may have changed now.  we were on the Epic back then.

Our story is like pp and many years ago on Gem.  There was one entrance for security for everyone.  Then a small roped off area with concierge there.  Not a good experience.

Then Epic started sailing there and it was a hot mess.  They finally changed things with what looked like some tents and designated areas based on pictures.  I have not actually seen reports from Haven guests though.

With that pier an issue, especially if two ships there, is the traffic congestion if you get there while people leaving and new arriving.

Boarding will start regular time -- noon-ish (or before). The last two times we sailed out of San Juan (pre-Covid), our departure wasn't until 9:00 and we still went to the port in the morning.

When we sailed from this port (last time was 2019), there was one security line. Once you were through, the Haven line was way at the end of the check-in area.

I'll be curious to see if there have been any changes.

Thank you for this information.  Hopefully, when the Epic starts sailing out of San Juan, we will have more information.

I was on the Epic this past February in Haven out of PR. We were in the standard line for security and then once we got through the scanners, there was a Haven check-in desk immediately to our left. The Pam Am boarding definitely leaves much to be desired in terms of aesthetic - it's basically a giant warehouse room. The Haven area had a few rows of seats, we filled out paperwork and they gave us each a bottled water. We waited there while they dealt with the paperwork and checked in a few people before us, and then we got escorted directly onto the ship from there.

(Keep in mind, Feb 2021 we were still doing the at-pier COVID testing and all of that fun stuff - there was no separate Haven line there, either. But by the time all of the testing and stuff was done, I think we were one of the first on the ship around 11am or so.)

If anyone has more specific questions, happy to answer them!

My update is from last March so please keep that in mind.

When we got to the pier, they were still setting up the table outside as it was around 8:45 a.m.   Someone walked us over to the carts and helped us put our luggage on them, then took us to the entrance all the way to the right (if you are standing facing the building).   We went through security and sat in the Haven area which was basically about 50 chairs blocked off.  There was water and orange juice available.    A good hour later, the concierge came and got all of the Haven guests.   Once inside the other part of the building, we lined up and very quickly checked in and got our cards and boarded.     While the Haven waiting area is separate, it really is nothing impressive.    I think my husband took pictures of it, I will ask him and try to post them.
