Whatever the charge is for a single 24 hour period of internet.  Purchasing on board is more expensive per day, than the per day charge in a full-cruise package purchased beforehand in your Cruise Planner.

If she wants to check in daily with family via internet, then yes, she needs to purchase Voom which is currently on sale for $13.99 per day.    No, you do not have to purchase separate Voom pkg for yourself.   You both could share the login. 

If she wants to purchase just one day  she may be able to do this onboard and cost varies per ship - usually $23.99 to $26.99

For daily use or anywhere close to that, buying the most basic wifi package at pre-cruise discount pricing is definitely the best way to go. And as @Sunshine3601mentioned, it can be shared, one device logged in at a time. Any device, yours or hers on an internet lounge desktop, whatever.
