We most certainly have cruised other options than Carnival...and not even close to " triple the fare " . Triple the amenities maybe. We don't " demand " anything..  we book a cruise, and we get what we get. On other cruise lines, we simply get more...no way to argue that. We book Carnival expecting a fun cruise, and that's what we get...but no amount of Carnival cheerleading gonna change the fact that they are not on par with some of their competition. If you book Carnival...expect a fun cruise, and odds are you'll get it...but don't expect The Ritz.

Nobody cruises Carnival for the Ritz.  And if some other cruise line (or land vaca, for that matter) offers someone a better experience for their dollar that that's where they should book.

 

I have no idea if the soft serve machines are 'off' at 5a of if the pizza closes at 3 or 4a.  I truly don't care; I am always in bed.  So none of that moves the needle for me.  If it does move the needle for someone, that's great and they can act accordingly. It's really not hard.

I'm with you.  Getting called a Carnival cheerleader just because you get tired of people whining about how terrible CCL is while still giving their hard-earned money to them gets tiring.  I don't like everything about any company. But if I'm still handing them my money while saying that I could get better service by spending the same amount of money somewhere else, it would be saying much more about me than it would about said company.

The key is you can't expect Carnival to give you the vacation you got 15 years ago, because you won't get it. You can still get that level of service from other lines (and no they are not 3x the price), but Carnival has cheapened their product in a race to the bottom where they are seemingly racing against themselves.

 

Think of a 2023 Carnival cruise like staying at a La Quinta by the airport, eating at the Chili's across the street, and visiting the local world's largest ball of yarn exhibit and Indian casino and you'll be pretty close to their current product. The special touches of Carnival in the past, even the small extravagances like a free room service BLT - all gone.

So I am assuming that Mz-S and hillbillycruisers are not sailing on a CCL ship.  Everyone has an opinion and I won't argue with anyone.  I am just wondering why you are on a Carnival board?  Is it to warn others or what?  I've read so many CCL sucks postings that I guess I just don't get it.  I would never waste my time reading or responding to posts about a product that I don't consume - it's just weird.

I am platinum on Carnival, last sailed on CCL in September 2022. Sailed CCL 4x the 12 months before that.

Well....you know what they say about assuming. Been on 10 Carnival cruises...including one three months ago and one three weeks ago. And never have I ever said Carnival " sucks ". If I didn't like a Carnival cruise, I wouldn't shell out my money with them. So...yes...THAT is why I am on a Carnival board...and NO I am not responding to a product that I don't consume. Carnival will give you a fun cruise...they just don't give out the same amenities. They are the lowest price cruise for a reason. You get what you pay for, and with Carnival that is true.
