Did they really create Crown & Anchor Society 25 years ago?

Our first Royal Caribbean cruise was on the Song Of America in 1990.  We received a letter from Captain Osten Andreassen welcoming us aboard. In that letter we were also welcomed to the past passenger organization, The Viking Crown Cruise Club.
