Rare drron29 Posted April 9, 2023 Author #278 Share Posted April 9, 2023 Dinner again in Atlantide. Rojaan had the day's asparagus starter and I the tuna. Sticking to the day's menu Rojaan had the duck and I the Malabar chicken. Rojaan really liked the duck but I found the chicken not really spicy. Rojaan stuck to the day's menu and had the raspberries and I went with a cheese plate. Another pleasant evening.

Rare drron29 Posted April 9, 2023 Author #280 Share Posted April 9, 2023 Woke to the arrival into Valencia. Arriving just before us the MSC Seashore. Looks bigger than the Grandiosa but has less passengers. Still nearly 5000. And off on our excursion.

Rare drron29 Posted April 9, 2023 Author #284 Share Posted April 9, 2023 Now we commenced our walk through the old town. This square had examples of the 17th,18th,19th and 20th century styles on the 4 sides. Pictures in that order. More Spanish wiring.

The second elected in 1492 and put in place the Spanish Inquisition. No oter Spanish Pope since then. And of course Lucretia Borgia. Views from around the Borgia's palace.
lincslady Posted April 9, 2023 #286 Share Posted April 9, 2023 Valencia always strikes me as a very livable city - and the indoor market is wonderful. Thanks for all the reminders. Lola

Rare drron29 Posted April 9, 2023 Author #293 Share Posted April 9, 2023 You may have noticed quite a few narrow houses in this area. Most were of 4 stories so no area for a lift so it was up a circular staircase such as this one in a shop. On the outside a pulley system to get larger or heavy objects up to the higher stories.. Now came our rest stop at this 200 year old cafe run by the same family. And this is what it served. So a drink called Horchata made from tiger nuts with copious sugar. Quite sweet. Served with a local pastry. Some pics in the cafe. And with another classic Spanish restaurant next door. 3
