Spice it Up!

In Gunbae they may be able to give you some gochujang paste to add to your food or sauces, but it did not seem like a particularly spicy brand to me when I added it to the bibimbap (and I like things fairly spicy).  In Extra Virgin, they may have red pepper flakes available (I never asked).  Bottom line, just ask and they will do their best to accomodate.  I can tell you that there is hot sauce available in the Galley if your husband wants to add spice to things up there.

Gunbae is very, very watered down Korean.  I wish they could accommodate those of us who spent considerable time in Seoul and want it authentic.  Specifically, really fermented/spicy kimchi.

The last time I was on the ship, I ended up bringing my own hot sauces 🙂
