Is there any chance that after making the final payment, you can see the main dining room menus for each night, so that you decide which evenings you should book specialty restaurants?

Basically, no and no. Crystal has dishes that keep returning, but not on any specific rotation. Formal nights often have such things a caviar, lobster, etc. If there's something on the Waterside menu that you would like, but you go to a specialty that night, ask your head waiter if you can special order it for another night. If the ingredients are still available, they will make it for you.

Thanks for the quick reply. In the past, I have asked them to serve me a particular dish the following evening and they have always accommodated.

How do you make specialty dining reservations with others on the ship? In the response above, it mentioned a temporary fix was to email crystal. Is  that still true? Or do both couples make a reservation for the same time and show up together expecting to be able to get a table together?

It’s still true. Make both reservations, then email obgs@crystalcruises.com.

 

it most likely would also work, to go to the maitre d on embarkation day. He’ll be holding court at Osteria d’Ovidio, but he handles all the specialty reservations. 

 

I wouldn’t wait until the evening of, and just show up.

We often travel with another couple.  What we do is each couple makes their own reservation for the same time and day and when we board the ship we go to the Maitre'd, tell him we are together and would like to be seated together at the time of the reservation.  This has always worked for us and has not been a problem.  It just means that they will just have to seat us at a table for four instead of at two tables for two.
