Cruising to Retirement Posted September 27, 2023 #1 Share Posted September 27, 2023 Will be there in January for a day in Barbados, not sure if the Boatyard is a good idea- any feedback on the Boatyard is greatly appreciated- looking for info on the food/beverage credit upon admission and prices of food and drinks also. Rare Cruise till you drop Posted September 27, 2023 #2 Share Posted September 27, 2023 I’m also interested in any feedback. We have the Boatyard in mind but the ship is offering a tour to Harbor Lights that also sounds very nice

Thanks https://www.elegancebarbados.com https://silvermoonbarbados.com Book early, repeat early, as space is limited to a maximum of 12 pax per large Cat. Check one’s ship’s arrival to correspond with sailing times of each operator. Transport to/from is included. There will be no disappointment, one will wish to repeat the experience.
Rare Tyler414 Posted October 11, 2023 #4 Share Posted October 11, 2023 I planned on going to Boatyard, but after looking at the above silver moon website I ended up booking the cat with lunch, the less expensive 12 person was sold out and only 2 spots left on the adults only version so I snapped them up for my sailing. Ont-teacher Posted October 12, 2023 #5 Share Posted October 12, 2023 (edited) We went to Harbour Lights. Took a cab from port. $5.00 each one way. Paid $30.00 each to go in. It included a drink each, umbrella and chair each, and we’re able to eat there for a cost but we didn’t. We had a big breakfast and we were fine until it was time to go back. It was great. We were on Celebrity and they were charging $70.00 per person but it did include buffet lunch which we heard was just ok. Beautiful beach. Then add what would be considered a fair $ value to each of the items listed, total, then compare against a Cat Day Operator’s price. Think the Math will surprise many. negn Posted October 16, 2023 #7 Share Posted October 16, 2023 I did Silver Moon on a vacay to Barbados pre Covid. It was wonderful. But they specifically would not take cruisers. So,that has changed.? If so, I’ll be booking on our stop there in March

You don't happen to know another company other than these two, do you? I contacted both, and although they both have availability, neither work with our port time 😢 we don't arrive until 9:00am, so they both told me it wouldn't work. Extremely disappointing, as we are the only ship in port that day, but oh well. Any other suggestions would be appreciated!

Remember that these tours are taken mostly by those vacationing on the island, with cruisers being a very small revenue percentage Suggest one asks the tourism board… https://barbados.org as they have access to all information. Good luck

We are taking a Celebrity excursion in January to a place called Harbour Lights. It sounds a lot like the Boatyard and seemed interesting Edited December 16, 2023 by Cruise till you drop
Rare Tyler414 Posted December 16, 2023 #12 Share Posted December 16, 2023 They do now except Cruise guests, there is an additional $10 charge for "transportation" My ship arrives at 7am, so the 9am start time is no issue. They did explain in the booking confirmation email that meeting at the designated spot and time is critical and they will not wait if your late. So it seems understandable they wont accept passengers from a ship arriving at 9am.

From past experience, ship tours usually have the beds at the rear, with no ability to reserve a preference, or move on arrival.

My parents are doing the Celebrity excursion to Harbour Lights, I suggested they just do it on their own and reserve through their website...I then thought better, knowing my parents, its best they do the ship tour. No getting lost or distracted or losing the time of day. 😂

Then when they arrive can be escorted. Also see if a few drinks can be prepaid.
