Happy Thanksgiving from the Ruby

2nd Sea Day

We enjoyed our room service breakfast in the cabin.  I went up to Sports deck to play in the shuffle board tournament. Came in second.
Randown to Deck 7 for trivia

Then, Deck 5 for the crew v passengers Turkey toss.  Sadly no turkeys were involved.  It was a wacky cornhole tournament .  Passengers won!
Spent the rest of the day enjoying sun & the Lotus pool in the Sanctuary.  We will be heading up to Skywalkers for elite party & sunset.
We do have a reservation in MDR for Turkey Day.

Enjoyed Thanksgiving Dinner in the MDR.  I had the Prime Rib very good.  Scallops & Shrimp were excellent. The Thanksgiving dinner was good.  The Pumpkin pie was not good. Chocolate soufflé was tasty. The Macadamia nut pie was a plate cleaner.
They did have all the NFL games on MUTS but NOT on the live TV in the cabin.  They do have them in the casino bar.
Tomorrow is Cartagena.  It will be a hot & humid one.

We just came back from being on the Ruby (Nov 6 - Nov 20) We had a great time.  If you happen to visit the Wheelhouse bar in the evening, look for a server name Delinda (I think) from Singapore.  You can't miss her as she is so friendly and fun.  Tell her the Currier's say hi.  Also, we were always able to see the NFL games on our Cabin TV.  Enjoying your report.  Happy sailing.

We went on the Princess excursion, Aromas & Flavors of Cartagena.

A nice tour that takes you in the Cartagena Bay towards the Old City. During the cruise, you have a Colombian coffee tasting followed by a cooking demo. We had a taste of a lovely ceviche in a plantain bowl, coconut lemonade cocktail and a taste of Papaya Colombian style. We had a lovely tour of the Old city, followed by a nice cruise back featuring empanadas & fruit. The Christmas decorations are up in Cartagena. A hot & humid day.

Enjoyed my second massage with bamboo. Perfectly relaxed for the Captain’s Circle event.  We have over 1600 first time Princess cruisers on this voyage.
Good news! The Outrigger AFT pool is back open.
Tomorrow is the Panama Canal Gutan Lake transit.

Greetings everyone,

It was a lovely leisurely day cruising the Panama Canal. We rose at 6am to be ready for our transit.  We passed under the Atlantic bridge a little after 6:30am.
We entered the Aqua Clara lock of the New Canal before 8am. The new lock is a single. We had to wait for the ship in front to get into section 3 before we could enter section 1. It was the driest October in history in Panama, so of course the minute, we got into the locks it started pouring. (Just like my last visit).  We had a crocodile named Luigi join us in the locks both ways.  They did have the bridge came on MUTS during our time in the Canal Zone.  We had a very good canal expert explaining describing the canal activity & history. Audio was clear. We were anchored in Lake Gutan until 2pm. During that time the weather was partly sunny and quite nice.
They did have the Michigan v Ohio State game on in the Explorers Lounge and Casino. The other college football games were on in Club Fusion.

Regarding football this voyage, the pursers desk confirmed that none of this trips NFL games have been broadcast in our cabins. They have only been on MUTS. Not sure if this just for this cruise or it’s a new thing starting now. Maybe to sell more beverages on board.
We had a smooth transit back thru the new locks and on to Costa Rica.

Here are a few pictures.

We were on the Nov. 6-20 Ruby sojourn and used the Terrace pool deck daily to baste our pasty white bodies in the hot Caribe sun!!

The pool was netted and drained on the last sea day much to the regular's chagrin. No explanation was forth coming from the pool attendants??!!

Users of the ice cold fresh water mentioned there was a sheen on the water possibly from the myriad of sun tan oils used in the basting process.?

Paul the bar steward at Outriggers was always smiling and an expert in concocting a Dirty Banana or a Captain' Bounty. We are detoxing at home now!! Miss your smile Paul

Cruise on

Bob

Forgive my ignorance, what is MUTS?

Movies Under The Stars.

Large screen on the lido deck where movies and other video content are shown regularly throughout the voyage. Usually movies at night. Football and other sports during the day, concert videos, etc.

What was nice is that they now have subtitles on some of the movies.

We had a beautiful day in Port Limon.

we had to turn back our clocks one hour in CR.

we did the 7-1 Highlights Tour with Your Lucky Tours. Eduardo & Walker took good care of us. We started with a 60 minute boat ride in the Tortuguos Canals. Our boat guide Richard was a master at spotting wildlife.  We saw Iquanas, Jesus lizards, Howler Monkeys, egrets and sloths.
We did a coastal drive to the Coahuila National Park and walked through the rainforest & strolled along the beach. The red flags were out for riptides.
We saw a stick snake, sloths & capuchin monkeys.  We had a lovely raspberry sorbet cone and our next stop was to a fruit stand & souvenir shop for a fruit & coffee tasting.  We went on a city tour with a stop at the highest point in Port Limon.

we shopped in the port market place & picked up a few items.  We had our guide stop at a grocery store to pick up coffee & hot sauce at a better price.
It was a hot one walking back up the pier.  Good thing Princess offers water & cold towels upon return.
Did a little karaoke today, played some trivia and enjoyed a leisurely evening after a full day in port.
Looking forward to a sea day tomorrow. Even though, we lose an hour.
Enjoy the pictures.

Sea Day#3 Formal Night #2

Another lazy day on the Ruby.
Started the day at the Outrigger Juice bar.  Deck 15.
Played in the Golf tournament.  It was tricky putting in the wind & bumpy seas.
The pools had the netting up today because of the rough seas. Lotus pool was drained.  Good news is we had calmer seas in the afternoon, so the pools reopened.  Christmas movies & NFL football on MUTS today.

They had the Crab Shack pop up in the Crown Grill for $39 per person. Not much of a line.

For the second formal night, we opted for the MDR because it was steak & lobster night.  They had my escargot appetizer, so I was happy.  You could get extra lobster tails for $10.
The comedian Troy Thirdill was very good.  We enjoyed watching the marriage game too.  Early start for Grand Cayman tomorrow.
Attached pictures of juice bar menu, MDR menus & Carb Shack menus
