b2b procedure

All of those staying on for the next sailing will receive a notice to meet at a particular location, then be escorted off the ship to a special room in the terminal to clear customs, then allowed back on the ship once it has been completely cleared of passengers.

Currently on our second leg of our b2b. We meet at lounge, get escorted out, go through customs and back on the ship. No muster drill.

Are there usually ship excursions for b2b?  We have one in a couple of weeks.

Odd to see them listing the ESTA as a required 'document' as it not issued as a document and is never required to be presented in documentary form...

Funny you say that Mark, we were on Adventure of the Seas in 2019, flew into Miami cleared customs without needing to show ESTA (in fact every time we have been to the states we haven't had to show them) stayed a few nights in Miami then headed to the cruise.

When we were checking in the lady asked to see our ESTA's which we didn't have copies of, we tried to explain that we had flew into the country a few days prior and didn't need to show them. She got quite arsey and basically said we could be detained if we didn't show her copies, we had to pull them up one at a time on our phone via the website. Bit of a mess on and nearly had the wife in tears. We were with family who checked in separately and none of them were asked for copies of their ESTA's so was a bit odd.

For our upcoming Feb cruise I will defiantly be printing or screenshotting them

Well I guess it wouldn't be the first time that a cruise line has decided to make up their own version of the rules and apply it inconsistently... 🙂

The CBP position is as follows:

"The United States regulation does NOT require a Visa Waiver Program (VWP) traveler to present a printed copy of the Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) authorization page in order to travel."

They only recommend printing it so you have a record of the application number and the expiry date.

The airlines all communicate directly with DHS to verify status so it will never be asked for at an airport.

Easy enough to print a copy of the payment receipt which confirms approval and expiry date, but I can understand the frustration with the experience you had...

There are some. Book via the ship cause you never know when you will be told to disembark and it might be longer than expected
