QM2 Single cabins

Considering booking one of the single cabins. There are two grades and I don’t know which is the best one to go for. Would appreciate any help. Thanks in anticipation.

I have been assigned to both types of single staterooms on the QM2. They both are very nice, but I personally prefer the staterooms on Deck 3 with the very large round windows. The staterooms on Deck 2 have a very high ceiling. However, they do not have the large windows.

The Deck 3 singles are indeed spacious and are oriented with the longer width against the exterior, rather than the traditional arrangement where the longest side would be against the neighbour stateroom and thus perpendicular to the hull.  There are occasional concerns raised here than Deck 3 is on the rat run out from G32 so prone to noise from late night revellers, but it's not anything I've seen or heard. Whereas the deck 2 staterooms are tucked away, there's a huge corridor down the middle of the liner which means no-one is going to use the corridor by the staterooms unless they had a specific reason to be there. 

 

The pricing of these stateroom can be odd, sometimes great value, sometimes you may as well go for the staterooms for 2 people or even a balcony grade.

We found most people, including us, returned from Queens Room or G32 via Britannia Restaurant deck 3. Meal service is long finished by then so not disturbing anyone. I suppose some people might use the cabin corridor.

Only those in the know would use the Deck 3 cabin corridor as a rat run as the Queens Room/G32 end is semi hidden behind a corner with a solid door that gives it the appearance of a crew-only area.

 

Of course there are those in the know but in my experience not enough to cause a problem!

Here are some pictures of Deck 3 Cabins Stateroom 3012  with 2 large Round Windows from the old Photo Gallery 1st Six pictures  then Stateroom 2016 deck 2, with One Large Portrait Window  From the old Casino Area .  Depending on pricing sometimes it is better to go for a Normal Cabin for solo use. The Deck 3 Cabins are in my opinion are the  nicest. for an Ocean View.

Thank you all for taking the trouble in replying to my question. Wondered about a balcony cabin if the price is reasonable. Will have to wait and see when the prices for the cruise I may be interested are announced.

I understand that those single cabins are among the first to sell-out so jump on them quickly or get a good TA to help out. They seem attractive and have nicer bathrooms than most other Britannia staterooms.

The single staterooms are very nice, but their prices vary and sometimes seem to be overpriced. Be sure to check the price compared to paying the single supplement for a standard outside or balcony stateroom. I had originally booked an inside stateroom, but I was upgraded to a Deck 2 single in 2016 and a Deck 3 single in 2017. These staterooms were new at the time. Most recently, I have been booking a sheltered balcony stateroom and paying the single supplement.

I was in one of the Deck 2 single cabins (KB grade) for the recent December eastbound crossing, and loved the cabin; the photos of Deck 3 single cabin (KC grade) look even better yet, but of course those cabins are rarer than hen's teeth.

 

There was a perfect amount of space for a single person, and I loved the way everything felt modern and fresh, particularly the colour scheme and the bathroom.

 

Price being equal (or perhaps even slightly higher), I would personally go for these cabins every time when sailing alone.

The Deck 3 single cabins are magnificent.

 

When I first booked one, I got the spiel about the supposed crowds who come down the corridor late at night, but I never heard nor saw them.  The corridor was really quiet on both of my crossings with this cabin, and you get two great windows out onto the sea, a shower room better than most on the ship (at least prior to the recent refit), and a steward who has relatively few cabins to look after.  Enjoy.
