ISLAND PRINCESS CRUISE AUG 15/2024 HELP

Recommended Posts

Hi my family is going on this cruise- question-- what do you recommend to do on the following stops?  Which of this stops is walkable?

We are on a budget..is there any private tour companies you recommend that are reliable and well priced?  From Civitavecchia to a hotel in Rome, what is the best and cheapest way to get there?

Here are our stops.... any help is greatly appreciate- if we can do any of these on our own that would be great if at all possible.

Cagliari

Palermo

Valletta

Corfu

Kotor

Dubrovnik

Salerno

Thanks so much

Google What to do in port ……….(fill in the port stop).  Read the posts on CC for Mediterranean sailings. Get some Rick Steves, Let’s Go or Frommer travel books.  Go the websites of those companies and read the blogs.

You need to do some research and then ask specific questions on the appropriate forum. Planning is half the fun.

Valletta - been 2x we did a tour the first time but the second we walked around on our own and did the Hop on hop off bus to see the island.  It was good value for us.

Kotor & Dubrovnik are easy to do with out a tour.   Dubrovnik you will need a cab or transit to the old city (we did cab tour which was very reasonable that took in the view from the top of the cable car and then dropped us at the old city).

Salerno I do not know, but all the others can be  DIY although this means doing your pre-trip homework, as has already been pointed out  in post #3.  Google will be your best friend, as will reading past threads here on CC Being prepared means you can keep your costs to a minimum and plan your days to suit the interests and ages  of all members of your family.

If you have not already done so, search for each of your ports in turn. Here are some to start with. Choose which to read from these;

CAGLIARI

PALERMO

VALLETTA

CORFU

KOTOR

DUBROVNIK

SALERNO

With that number of port calls, and to avoid confusion, I advise you focus on one at a time  and only  move to the next once the previous one  is finished.

You might also want to start a document for each as otherwise  there will be too much info to remember.

It is mostly a case of putting in the hours whilst researching each one, although as most of the hours  will involve reading, it is really only time and you have that as August this year  is 5 months from now.  You didn't say, but if your kids are old enough to read about some places and make suggestions, that too would be a help.

using all caps is not considered to be polite.

Agreed, and makes it difficult-to-read.

If poor eyesight is the reason for using caps., instead try lower case but in a bigger font-size and/or in bold face

Much more user-friendly
