ICON - Boarding and Back to Back Procedure

For anyone who has already sailed ICON, I am wondering if when you board you can go directly to your cabin, get your keycard, and drop your carry ons in the cabin and then leave until the cabins are all ready.  This was the procedure on our previous cruises with Celebrity and MSC, and I am hoping it is the new procedure across the industry.

 

And for those who have already done a B2B, what is the procedure for those starting week 2:  do they move you as a group off and then back on, or do you even have to exit the ship at all?

Same procedure as every other Royal ship sailing from Florida.

 

No room entry on boarding day until sometime between 1 and 2.  You keep your bags with you.

 

On TAD you will be escorted off and back on the ship.

wait, is this the case? I thought if you had a B2B in the same room, you could keep your things in the room on the crossover day

That comment was for the original boarding day.  I said nothing about taking your bags with you on TAD

As already stated, you cannot go to your cabin until an announcement is made that cabins are available. From my experience the average time is around 1:30 PM. I just boarded Allure yesterday and cabins were available at 1:05 PM.
 

That is one of the things I like about Celebrity. You can go directly to your cabin to drop off carry ons and pick up your card. Just one of many things that is making Celebrity more and more appealing to me (not to mention I am getting older 🙂). 

 

As for Icon, great ship overall, although there are still things I like better about Oasis class ships (like having a Solarium). We were on the February 3-10 cruise. I have never seen so many kids on a ship before, but I understand RCI is marketing Icon towards families with younger kids. Definitely a big change from the 9 day cruise we did on Celebrity Constellation a few weeks prior to cruising on Icon. There were literally 12 kids on that cruise.
