OBSERVATIONS FROM THE POOP DECK SEASCAPE

This makes me recall growing up with the Love Boat and conversations with my husband after our first cruise regarding cruise attire and how no one, and I mean no one was walking around the lido deck in their swimwear and high heels.

Certainly one area that is so much better in today's times.

This makes me think about, has anyone ever been on a cruise where the adults look like the adults in the ads? The adults in the ads are 'older', but not too old, always dressed to the nines, incredibly hip and popular looking.

Yes.  When MSC first came to the USA...we sailed on the Divina (general pop) and the vast majority of passengers were European or South American.  They had style...all day long.  Not fancy...just knew how to dress and how to take care of their bodies.

The Europeans and South Americans still do. It's the North Americans that dress like Tarzan and Jane.

P.S. Present company excepted.

This was new as well in the Market Place buffet. Make your own. Not quite. The liquor was handled by a staff member.

I believe that there was a sangria special on the Meraviglia 2 weeks ago in the buffet.  It wasn't included with the beverage package.

Reading accounts of others that are complaining that the MDR or restaurants (other than Hola Taco) are closed making the Market Place buffet over crowded on embarkation or port days. NOT the Yacht Club on Seascape. One port stop DW and I were the only guests seated for lunch in the YC Restaurant at 12 noon. We did not sit there until 2 pm to know how many came back to the ship. Buffet was open too.IMG_3879.thumb.jpg.d110288549ab5460beba8406e09f2e17.jpg

Here is the "Make your own " drink in the Market Place buffet. All he wanted from me, first thing, was my key card to see what drink package I had. I was just inquiring for all of you. I kept my key card in my pocket.

P.S. I was once charged for a 'mudslide' just for asking for a bottle of water at the Haven Restaurant bar NCL Brteakaway.

This is all that stands guard, stopping Interlopers.

When we were on the Seascape in February, there were random scans of cruise cards and/or wrist bands in the TSL and YC restaurant.  Wait staff claimed this was to track the food and drink orders. Spoke with the Maitre d" about this.  He mentioned that a scan of one group of patrons in the YC restaurant revealed that their cabin was on deck 14.  They were obviously in the wrong restaurant.  DW and I were not upset or insulted by these "ID" checks.

Thank you, thank you. I write about this happening all the time and people here do not believe me. On our cruise last week there was a group we saw only once in the YC restaurant. This is how it happens. They sneak in on decks 18 or 19 when someone is entering or exiting (most YCers are too nice and do not confront fellow passengers). If we see a group waiting we take the elevator and go up or down one flight to a vacant entrance. (DW is beginning to have a problem with stairs). Then just as the restaurant is opening, they get in line and when both the maitre d' and hostess are engaged seating others they zip right over to an empty table.  We know because this happened to us when 2 YCers zipped by us and bee-lined to 'our' table. And this was on a very crowded YC sailing, 330 guests and the restaurant had an additional head waiter seating guests as well.

P.S. You should post more often !

I just remembered that BCD said one day at lunch a party of two wandered into Le Muse. They were looking around for a table when Mehmet (maitre' d) spoke to them quickly and then escorted them out. I totally missed this -- that's how quick it was.

On Divina, we do frequently see people in the hallway outside of the entrance to Le Muse stop for a moment maybe thinking, "Hmm, what's this restaurant?" Then they see the YC signs and realize that it's not for them. The restaurant is near the adult pool restrooms, so it gets attention when people come inside. First time we ever saw someone try to enter though.

This is the crutz, essence, core, heart, gist, root, point, kernel, nub, sum, and meat of the situation. True YCers are just too nice. They will hold open the door as a courtesy for any fellow passenger.

We are very careful to not allow "tailgaters" into the YC after us. And if we are ever the tailgaters, we are quick to show our card to the others, even if they don't ask.

It's our world, let's preserve it! 🙂

Further testimony on the existence of interlopers.  One afternoon on that same cruise I was in the YC area, walking past the entrance doors on deck 18.  A woman, outside theYC was frantically knocking on the entrance doors cruise card in her hand.  It was not the blue YC card with the gold lotus emblem we all know so well.  I looked at her, pointed to my YC wrist band, shook my head NO, and walked away.  She was not happy with me.

You are a Godsend. Thank you.

Noticed this dangerous situation in Le Cabaret Rouge. Between sets the lights go so low that it was impossible to see the stairs going to level 2 and level three. Perhaps if someone from MSC is monitoring this site they could forward this short clip to show how it is an accident waiting to happen.

Please notice the striking difference that one begins their cruise in suite class between MSC Yacht Club and Regent Seven Seas. Both these photos were in their respective terminals. MSC YC is the butler serving complimentary drinks and another serving treats to suite guests. The other is Regent with two vending machines in the far corner. No separation of suite guests and steerage (bring small bills as there is no one with change).

The drink trolley was back in operation on the One Pool Deck. Really did not appreciate the eye glass guys making the rounds to give one a complimentary eyeglass/sunglass cleaning using just one communal microfiber cloth. Could only lead to trouble...with spreading eye infections.
