Xingubelempara Posted September 2 #1 Share Posted September 2 Does anyone have first-hand experience taking either crushed malaria pills or the liquid form? My wife has an esophageal diverticulum that sometimes catches pills/food/liquid. She’s hoping to crush/take the table because the oral suspension is so expensive. 1. What is the best way to crush the tablet (we haven’t yet found a pestle-and-mortar brand that pill crushers recommend). 2. What do you take the crushed pill (or liquid) with, and how much of it do you take (so far we’ve read “a small amount” of condensed milk, pudding, milkshake, chocolate syrup). 3. What time of the day have you found works best for you to take the Rx? Many thanks for sharing your experience.
Rare Essiesmom Posted September 2 #2 Share Posted September 2 I’m seeing a multitude of pill crushers on Amazon. Are you taking a safari? Are you absolutely sure you need malaria meds? It’s been many years since I spent time in a place where I needed malaria meds (South America, Asia) and I think they are different now. Rare 1025cruise Posted September 2 #3 Share Posted September 2 I would suggest discussing this with a doctor.

Splinter Posted September 2 #5 Share Posted September 2 Ask your pharmacist about this. They are the experts on crushing or liquid forms of pills. As an RN of 50 years, I always took these questions to our pharmacist.
