GrumpySushiBear Posted September 14 #27 Share Posted September 14 Hi all! Got to meet @BBGrace273, @agape01, and @FauxNom yesterday! Everything has been amazing onboard and there’s so much to do I am glad I didn’t attempt to do my own live thread, thanks @BBGrace273 for letting us chime in on yours 🙂 I posted pictures of embarkation day with food from Silver Note on my own blog: no ads or anything I just like having full control of my photos. https://kan.ski/2024/09/13/embarkation-day/ Not mentioned on the post but I find amazing that may be relevant to the cruise crowd: Fruits and veggies are all super fresh Cooking class was super easy but we got to chat with the chef/instructor after and I asked for some specific tips on other things and I am excited to try when I get home. He was also super funny during class Activities galore: we were so busy. I loved the watercolor class, DH loved ping pong 🙂 There were paper printed chronicles, my butler has been amazing making sure to keep a thermos full of hot water for me in my suite. i have watched a million videos before and it’s even more luxurious in person. Only negative is the premium wifi prices feel predatory. It’s 29 per day to upgrade ONE device, not one device each in the room. I paid for it since I need to work onboard. To their credit I was able to give a presentation on video without a hitch and have video meetings. (It’s discounted to 21 per day if you buy the voyage plan).
jollyjones Posted September 15 #28 Share Posted September 15 (edited) Last time I was on SS which was pretty recently, to buy the premium internet was about $29 per 24 hr period or about $20 per day full voyage for, I think, four devices. It’s per account, nothing to do with per room. I always buy it and have three devices all connected simultaneously. Don’t understand where you get $29 per device per day from? This does not gel with my experience. I think there’s an option to pay to have more than one device on one account on the standard internet that is free for one device but I can’t understand why anyone would do that, it’s not logical. It is pretty clearly listed when you sign in and choose upgrade, the upgrade is per device now.
jollyjones Posted September 15 #30 Share Posted September 15 (edited) Well yes it’s $29 per 24hr slot to upgrade from the free internet, but did you ask if that was for one or more devices? The upgrade has always been per account, not per device. I only disembarked two weeks ago so I’m not talking about months ago. And I was on the Nova but four months ago and the upgrade to premium internet was for at least four devices, I always have three going simultaneously. Rare BBGrace273 Posted September 15 Author #31 Share Posted September 15 @GrumpySushiBear is right. So much to do! I totally have FOMO, and so I want to do everything all the time. I was having an arthritis flare up the last 2 days, so it was difficult to type, but it's much better today. Hopefully I will catch up on some posts, photos, and impressions this evening. Long story short though, I am having a blast! @RetiredandTravel, if you have any questions, I'm.happy to try and answer them for you. I had a lot of help from on here before I embarked. agape01 Posted September 15 #32 Share Posted September 15 (edited) Silver Note on Day 3 on this cruise has so far been the most impressive and innovative. This was what I ate Silver Note menu Left Silver Note Menu Right Caviar Rosette Crab Bites Tuna In A Can - Korean Spicy Citrus Marinated Lobster Tail Beef Tournedos Medium Rare uncut Beef Tournedos Medium Rare cut Vanilla Ice Cream and TWG Earl Grey Tea And with that, that ends out night. I paid for one voyage upgrade and I can have one device connected at a time and that device is premium internet. DH is on the slow internet, one device- he is holding out for the long stretch of sea days when he has to work too. If we knew it was this much money we would have just left our laptops at home and take the unpaid days from work. Oh well!

christraveller Posted Sunday at 06:15 PM #36 Share Posted Sunday at 06:15 PM The upgrade to faster and 4 devices per cabin for 7 days worked well a few weeks ago on the Nova. It wasn’t $29 a day.

Rare BBGrace273 Posted Sunday at 09:21 PM Author #40 Share Posted Sunday at 09:21 PM Disaster (not really) struck when I found out my travel diffuser will not fit on these huge barreled Bentley hair dryers l. My curls are going to hate me for the next 15 days! They should stick to cars. 😆

From my perspective, you have several choices: 1. You can ask guest relations if they have another type of hair dryer on which your diffuser would fit. 2. You can also ask if they have accessories to fit your Bentley. 3. If the dryer barrel is too big to fit your diffuser as you mention (and you are willing to modify it for future Silversea cruises), you can ask if a maintenance crew with a pair of snips can trim the 3 protuberances inside the diffuser so it slides on the barrel. There should be a solution to your problem. Have fun and take care.

And I thought about doing 3) for a hot second, but the nozzle is actually so large, even trimming off the little nubbins won't make it work. But thanks for the suggestions! ☺️

Your posts are deeply appreciated. This is our first time on Silversea, previously sailed NCL. There were so many negative comments on the internet we were a bit scared we made a mistake but now that we are living it, I can say it’s actually a great deal. I would say 92% we are extremely happy with, minus 3 points for internet price, and 2 points for them piping the beautiful musical instructions through terrible amps, and 3 points for Kaiseki and La Terraza’s food being very mediocre (to our tastes) compared to everything else- it’s more confusing than upsetting. We have plenty of other choices and haven’t felt hungry since we boarded. Go for it! 2
