Gambling at San Juan port

Recommended Posts

Leaving on April 8th, Seranade of the Seas, from San Juan. Just wondering when they open the casino. I know there is gambling at the resort hotels there(San Juan), and was wondering if that meant that the ships casino would be open during embarkation. If not, does anyone know when it does open? Im not really a big gambler, but heard that the slots are "better" in the very beginning of the cruise (maybe to lure others throughout the rest of the cruise). So just wondering when I could be one of the first to step up and lose some money ? Thanks, Karen

Karen, despite what some may claim, it's a total myth that slots are better at the beginning of a cruise. The slots are controlled by random number generators, computer chips that are installed into the individual machines. The cruise lines do not have their employees running around to every machine every day to adjust the payout rate.

My guess is that it is simply that people are more aware when the casino first opens and the bells (or whatever) go off. Jackpots are hit during the entire cruise. It's just that we are not as aware as time goes by.
