HALOnlyCruiser Posted May 7, 2006 #1 Share Posted May 7, 2006 Sail7Seas did such a good job of posing new questions yesterday, I got inspired! So here's one: What are your favorite internet travel sites (plus link, if you can.) Other than HollandAmerica.com and CruiseCritic.com of course! Here are mine: www.mimimus.biz -Tiny travel packets of almost everything. You'll go nuts! www.eBags.com www.longitudebooks.com - All travel books and maps for every destination www.flightview.com - Flight tracking www.seatguru.com - Don't book airline seats without it! www.sleepinginairports.com - Just for fun And, of course, Magellans.com and TravelSmith.com
Bengoshi Posted May 7, 2006 #2 Share Posted May 7, 2006 Here are several you may like: www.cruisecal.com/dnn/ is a site which will tell you which ships are in which ports; www.02cruise.com/Ships/ is a site with deck plans; and www.cdc.gov/nceh/vsp is the Center for Disease Control's Vessel Sanitation Program, which will provide reports of ships' inspections. I've bookmarked it. :) Here's more of my favorites... http://cruiseclues.com/ Anything about cruising, menus, daily programs, and more here. http://www.lifeiscruising.com/ Lots of port information and pictures. General cruise information...mostly Carnival and Princess, but still lots of good "general" information. If you click on this site, and it comes up blank, try it again. obriendan Posted May 8, 2006 #10 Share Posted May 8, 2006 We have done extensive land tours over the last ten years. My DW is always concerned about the "facilities" available in the various countries. In fact, such considerations sometimes limit the countries she is willing to visit. Therefore the following web sit is extremely useful!:D www.thebathroomdiaries.com

Doesn't sugar-coat anything! I also forgot one of my favorite sites: www.kroooz-cam.com (Note the three "o"s in "kroooz") Sorry...."cams" has an "s". See corrected link below! SpuddGirl Posted May 10, 2006 #23 Share Posted May 10, 2006 and gruesome as it may seem, www.stormcaribe.com It's a site about Caribbean hurricane info and really came in handy when trying to find out how all the islands and people faired last year Thanks, jfishe, for providing this link. I've been all around the web trying to find a good site for hurricane info. Mainly because I wanted to find out what islands have suffered severe damage in the past couple years as I plan our next cruise to the Western caribbean. Sidenote: although stormcaribe.com does re-direct you, it is actually www.stormcarib.com (no E at the end). Great link! And one of my favorites: www.wikipedia.com . This is actually an online encyclopedia, but if you type anything in the search box, i.e., "Tortola", it will bring up a page filled with facts on Tortola, BVI, links to things such as major towns, maps, etc. I've learned quite a bit about the islands I want to visit this way. And its helpful for anything you want to learn about, not just travel. I got some great hurricane info from here recently when I wanted to find out just how badly hit the Cayman islands and Cozumel were. You can really get caught up in this site as you travel from link to link to link.... Great thread - this is the kind of stuff that keeps me addicted to CC!
