CruiserKit Posted July 16, 2006 #101 Share Posted July 16, 2006 Sounds like you are still having a wonderful time. Enjoy your last week. Sahra and Danial left this morning. Had a wonderful time with them. They said to tell everyone hello. They both look great. :) Some of you might have seen that Travel and Leisure just put out the Best of the Best in their last issue. Not a surprise, Seabourn was again #1 for small ships.:D Silversea was #2. Crystal #1 for large ships. Did someone say, "Large Ship". Can't wait to give "2" a try. Let me know if you are booking the crossing for next Nov. Have fun tonight. Obviously things improved in the casino from your report the first night? Hi to Phil, Luca and the rest. CeeJay11 Posted July 16, 2006 #102 Share Posted July 16, 2006 Hi Dan We absolutely loved your review of "2" - we could almost taste all those delectable foods. When we tried it in May, the service was amazing so it was a very, very special night. We are also happy that you are thinking of booking the Nov. 2007 crossing. It is the best one with all those extra hours thrown in - so we're keeping our fingers and toers crossed that you'll just do it! (You can always get your money back :) ) We hope Gerhard is going to be on the Legend in November - we must try his Margaritas. Why didn't we hear about these before??? PeaSea8ch Posted July 17, 2006 #104 Share Posted July 17, 2006 Was the Maureen you speak of from NJ? She always took the single with the balcony on the Sun deck and would usually stay on for a couple of cruises? Was she in her 40's - 50's and also posted on Cruise Critic? Cruisr,Thanks for your reply. Yes on most counts because I don't know for sure if she often did B2B cruises because she ran a business and being gone that long might have been problematic. I also do not know if she has posted on CC as I do not know her Username or read any posts that would allow me to think she was the poster. norm2002 Posted July 17, 2006 #105 Share Posted July 17, 2006 Paul Sound like it is the same Maureen. She was in the oil business. Sorry to have to tell you that Maureen passed away about 18 months ago. There was a thread at http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=137757 Best wishes Norm
Host Dan Posted July 17, 2006 Author #106 Share Posted July 17, 2006 Thanks Norm for the clarification. I don't believe I had the pelasure of knowing Maureen. OK, back on topic with my travel logue.. Last night was a blast. I met a really cool and fun couple from Arizona, Bill and Michelle, and we laughed and laughed and laughed at the Club! :D Later I hung out with the guys from our musical 4-some "Navigator", and went to the casino. (not as much fun as the latter bunch, if you know what I mean) ;) Cheeseburger in the suite at 2AM, and then to bed for a long nights sleep. Today we are docked in Tunisia, one of my least favorite places. (had a very bad experience in the black market a few years back) I opted to sleep in until 11:30AM, then up to the sky grill for my sashimi lunch. My cruise friend had his first filet burger of the trip, and was completely satisfied. Zoltan took care of everything! Passengers are still on tour, so its a bit quiet around here. I may go out in the sun, or maybe one of Gerhards margaritias, and a nap.. ;) I'll be sure to post later on.. Happy Monday (I think) everyone!! :) Host Dan
Seabourn-nail Posted July 17, 2006 #107 Share Posted July 17, 2006 Please also give my regards to Steven and my condolences to Daniel! Tell them I look forward to see them both August the 19th! I will post later about more "captain news"!

SailorTom Posted July 18, 2006 #109 Share Posted July 18, 2006 Dan, For those of us planning future cruises aboard Seabourn Spirit, please give some information on the ease or difficulty of internet access and costs of your blogging. Thanks,
Host Dan Posted July 18, 2006 Author #110 Share Posted July 18, 2006 Sailor Tom, My internet cost is this... I opted for 2, 8 hour packages at $167.50 each. I should have bought a 16 hour package, at a lesser cost, but didn't realize I'd be on the net so much. The connection is not as fast as my home computer, but not bad. Last night was a blast! I had dinner with new friends Bill and Michelle, and "old" friends (been on for the same 3 weeks) Sue and Warrick. These two are from Australia, and are alot of fun! :) After dinner we went up top deck for dessert under the stars. To my amazement, MOST of the ship were up there dancing the night away! Afterwards, I changed to more comfortable clothes and headed off to the Club where it was Disco night. We were able to choose what we wanted to hear, so Michelle and I dirty danced to 80's heavy metal and hair band tunes! (Many stares, but what the heck!) Casino was fun, and home at a decent hour. Today we are in Palermo, Sicily. Big city. Easy to get around, but scary to cross the street. Because I wasn't into shopping, I went out, walked around for a couple hours, and back to the ship. (now) I think I'll head up to the Sky bar, have lunch in the Verandah, and take a relaxing nap. Life is good! Host Dan

IMHO I will do the 100 minute package (or whatever is around that amount) for my week cruise. I will not be spending much time checking the "How to Win in the Seabourn Casino" web sites :D:D
Host Dan Posted July 18, 2006 Author #112 Share Posted July 18, 2006 Well folks, Just booked the 2007 November Transatlantic on the Legend! Unbelievable that ALL A and A1 suites are booked! I elected to book an A2 GTY. (I can always cancel) ;) Dont think so.. :D Having a very nice day, just came down from getting (more) sun. Bonnies show again tonight. I think I'll skip it, as have already experienced it twice. Although its great for a laugh! Till later... Host Dan
norm2002 Posted July 18, 2006 #113 Share Posted July 18, 2006 Great, Dan. Look forward to seeing you there. I wonder, though, if there may be some cancellations now that G-A-T-N will probably not be aboard. Having sailed with him once, and reading the threads here, he has a tremendous personal following. I wonder if some of them may follow him to the Pride. Best wishes and I've really enjoyed reading your blog. Norm

sara cruise Posted July 18, 2006 #115 Share Posted July 18, 2006 hi dan, i finally managed to read up on the time you cruised without us (ralph and sandra). reading about your experiences makes me drool with envy. we're back at work and already miss the legend. say hi to gerhard & luca. tell luca that i'm glad the italians won (and not the french). we're thinking about cruising this fall with our little luca. not sure which ship though. enjoy the rest of your cruise and have a safe trip back. :)
Seabourn-nail Posted July 18, 2006 #116 Share Posted July 18, 2006 Thank you for your reports! I guess we booked the last remaining A1 on the Legend 2007 crossing; sorry for that! Good to hear you booked the cruise too. Have more fun!
PeaSea8ch Posted July 18, 2006 #117 Share Posted July 18, 2006 Well folks,Just booked the 2007 November Transatlantic on the Legend! Unbelievable that ALL A and A1 suites are booked! I elected to book an A2 GTY. (I can always cancel) ;) Dont think so.. :D All Right! I hope CruiserKit and DiamondLady follow suit! This November CeeJay and I will work on the good Drs from NYC to ensure the Comeback Cruisers are in excellent fettle for Trivia. :) For your next cruise, you may want to consider bringing your Wi-Fi enabled laptop to compose your posts offline then log on cut and paste and you only use a fraction of the time. That is what I did on my last cruise on QM2 and you know how long those emails were! Continued smooth sailings with gentle breezes and lots of fun in the sun to all. PeaSea8ch Posted July 18, 2006 #118 Share Posted July 18, 2006 So glad you will be joining us on the Legend Nov. 2007 crossing! :) This is going to be a great cruise! I agree with Norm that some of Captain G-A's devotees may defect but so may Captain T. T.'s fans. Overall this will all come out in the wash and the the booking frenzy at Seabourn will continue unabated. This is good if (when) Seabourn rolls out the rumored new vessel(s). CeeJay11 Posted July 19, 2006 #121 Share Posted July 19, 2006 Hi Dan Your trip is almost coming to an end - only 4 more days I think! We have certainly enjoyed your posts. And we especially enjoyed the news that you have booked the Nov. 07 crossing! The Comeback Cruisers are coming back again :) It seems like you have been gone a long time. We actually re-read this entire thread yesterday and it took over an hour!! Have a wonderful last few days. Carol & Wally
Host Dan Posted July 20, 2006 Author #122 Share Posted July 20, 2006 Hi All! With all the "activity" in the cruise market right now (news) the website has been overloaded, so no chance of posting until now. Oh the news... Two nights ago we had dinner with the Club entertainers, Darrek and Ania. Very charming 21 year old couple. To anyone who is familiar with Christina Agualera, she is a dead ringer... :) Yesterday we anchored off Sorrento, Italy. Originally we planned a trip to Capri, to visit a friends' Uncles restaurant. The tourist crowd was so heavy, we elected to stay in town. After taking a shuttle bus up top, we walked around charming Sorrento, and elected to have lunch at a gorgeous 1820 hotel overlooking the sea. (Hotel de la Seryne) After lunch we were invited to go on the Seabourn Experience. This consisted of a private viewing of a folkloric musical in a Teatro in Sorrento. The voices, dancing and costumes were unreal. Everyone had a great time. Last night was (another) deck bar-b-que. The food was good, but not refreshed fast enough. Our table mates, Michelle and Bill, enjoyed every last bite..now the drama... Disco night started at 11PM. A group of 5 ladies were on the dance floor having a good time. Michelle and I decided that we would like to dance to a bit more "hard core" tunes. We waited until the dance floor was empty for two consecutive tunes. At that point we felt it was OK to select music from a different genre. We selcted girls-girls-girls by Motley Crue. Kind of a heavy metal strip club tune. We had a GREAT time on the dance floor!! We then would selct something on that level every other song, until..... One of the 5 ladies went up to the DJ and expressed that they were 5, and that the DJ should not play music for us two "fill in the blanks"... Having heard that, I nicely told the woman off. She then grabbed my shirt, and went ballistic. It was SO WEIRD....!!! (At one point she said, I've sailed Seabourn 5 times, and I could BUY this ship) Ha Ha!!! :D Oh well, it takes all kinds I guess... I understand that she has had a chip on her shoulder from day 1. Enough of that.. Marina day today, so I might try the water ski's and will definately do the banana boat. More later.... Host Dan
mef38 Posted July 20, 2006 #123 Share Posted July 20, 2006 Dan, Thanks for the updates on the Legend. It has been great for my wife and I to read. We will be boarding the ship in two weeks (Aug. 5-19) for a similar trip (Monte Carlo to Rome to Monte Carlo) and your comments have been enjoyed by us. In fact, we've been inspired by your comments enough that I'm making sure to bring my notebook computer and post our thoughts while on the cruise. See what you've started? Have a great day and enjoy the last few moments of peace. Mark (from St-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Quebec)
sara cruise Posted July 20, 2006 #124 Share Posted July 20, 2006 Hi Dan, before you leave the best ship on the world, please say hello to all the great people on board. Sandra and myself are missing the boat already and can not wait to get back on again. As you said before the crew makes the difference and those people are incredible. Seabourn-nail Posted July 20, 2006 #125 Share Posted July 20, 2006 Dear Dan, You have been kind enough to post nearly every day of your cruise! Tomorrow is your last day, please enjoy it to the fullest. You deserve it. Please have a Pina Colada with vanilla ice cream on my account. Preferably around 18.00 at the Sky bar.Don't let people from CC ruin your cruise. I know you meant well. But you got misunderstood. And then people have soccer incidents mixed up with a simple incident on a lovely ship like the Spirit. I absolutely loved your comments! Save trip home.
