Any Recent Legend Cruisers Out There - Piano Bar ??

I read that Billie's Bar was closed and had no piano player the week before last. Does anyone know why? Is it just a temporary thing? I sent an email to Carnival to ask, and have not heard back. It was my favorite bar and I'll be so disappointed if it's closed at the end of September. Thanks!

I'm with you sinkers22. I was really looking forward to going to the piano bar. When we cruised on Victory it was one of the highlights of our "nighttime clubbing":)

I too was looking forward to going to the paino bar. There was nobody in the piano bar on the cruise (8/16 to 8/24). No reason was given. I should have asked the people at the pursers desk for information.

We were on the Legend in June and our dinner bar wait staff also worked in Billie's bar which was opened at the time. She said the regular piano player was just let go for actually asking for tips to play. She said he would accept the tips he just solicited and then not play the requested song until another guest kicked in a tip. Guest and the staff started complaining and he was replaced. Carnival replaced him with a lady on our cruise but although she could play the piano she could not carry a tune if she had two buckets. We would talk to the bar waitress at dinner and she would ask our table to visit her at Billie's because it was dead and she was bored and I think she was a little upset that she was not making any tips. When we did go see her we were the only guests there. I guess if the bar is not generating revenue and none of the staff want to work there then the decision to close it was easy.

I sent an email to Robert King at Carnival. According to the carnivalentertainment.com web site, he is incharge of the lounge entertainment on board.

 

I hope that I get a response from him before I sail on Friday!

It's me Barbara. How the heck are you? I have not been on the boards for awhile. We just booked another 11 day Western Caribbean on Dawn for April 2007. That kitchen remodel was a hum dinger and so we had to recoperate for awhile before we booked another cruise.

So you are doing the Legend again? Lucky you. I see your departure day is around the cornor I am jealous! ;) I loved the Legend but my hubby loves the "poker" on the Dawn and the freestyle dining so we decide to do the Dawn again.

What is your itinerary? I will cross my fingers and pray to keep the tropical storms away for ya. Hope you have good weather and a great time.

Barb! You must be a psychic! I was just thinking about you yesterday! How the heck are you? Was wondering what you were up to. What made me think about you was this. I was giving me email address to someone yesterday and when she looked at it she said "Stinkers 22?" I said no....sinkers22. :D

 

Yep, we off on the Legend again. Going with another couple that we met on Cruise Critic, who just happen to live around the corner from us. What a small world.

 

We loved the Dawn too and will probably do that again in Feb of 2008. Hank has another job and can only take vacation at the end of August or February when the plant shuts down for inventory.

 

It's been 1-1/2 years since our last cruise and I'm so ready. Since we've done this itinerary before (San Juan, St. Thomas and Tortola) we're only doing the Trunk Bay snorkeling trip while in St. Thomas and relaxing in Tortola. Might not even get off the ship. Since they have spa specials on port days, I'm thinking a Massage sounds pretty good. Or maybe a facial to make be beautiful!

 

I bet your kitchen is fabulous. After we did ours (remember that) we went ahead and redid our bathroom. Moved it to a spare bedroom and it's twice the size! I can dance in there...lol. Turned our old bathroom into a walk-in closet.

 

Thanks for the well wishes. I hope the weather is good too, but as long as we don't go North and stay South, I don't care where we go as long as I'm on a ship with food, booze and a casino!

LOL....and I almost called you Stinkers again too! :eek: Good to hear from you. So you did your bathroom exactly the way I have been wanting to do ours. I want to dance in mine too. ;) I want to get rid of a very tiny bedroom next to our master bedroom and make it into a huge master bath and use the old bath for a walk in closet. Hubby says it will decrease the value of our house if we lose a bedroom. I think he is right....but I am longing for a whirl pool tub and a huge closet. I bet yours is beautiful! I am jealous again!

 

BTW....our kitchen turn how fantastic! I love it! Just finished the tile floor that matches the backsplash and the dining room. It is a mexican terra cotta porcelain that also matches the brick fireplace in dining room. I could take a few more cruises for what that floor cost us.:eek: But, it will last us till we meet our maker cause we ain't doing this again.

 

So you are doing the Southern Caribbean route again. I love those ports...but like you I can go anywhere on a ship as long as it headed south and the weather is tropical. I hear our ship the Dawn will not be sailing out of New York after November this year so I am happy that we are getting a chance to be on her one more time. Hubby wants to do Hawaii or Alaska but he is going to have to wait till my fear of flying goes away....if ever it does. :(

 

Well kiddo....like I said before I will pray that the tropical weather stays nice and calm for you and that you have a wonderful time. Going with friends can be much more fun. Not any of our friends will get on a boat. But they will fly!!! :eek: Go figure! LOL!

 

Make sure you give us all a trip report.
