Love to travel: I haven't been able to book the gumbalimba park online yet either. The only excursion to the park is the Jolly Roger Catamaran combo trip. 2hours in the park and 2 hours on the catamaran. I have talked to someone at Costa and they said no new excursions will be added. Our problem is my nephew is only 18months old (not old enough for the catamaran). We want to do the park, don't really care about the boat ride! I was told we have to talk to the Excursion manager about going to just the park, and you can only talk to him once you are on the ship. Guess we will wait and see what happens. My kids really want to play with the monkeys!

What do you get to do in the park for the two hours? I thought that place looked fantastic, then I was bummed that I was unable to book it on my own!

I got my tickets today!!! But the X-1 package isn't mentioned...the kids soda cards are, but not my wine/beer package...just so it is on my card, that's what matters... I really like the luggage tags, better than Carnival. Only 5 weeks to go!

I think you get to go through the park, see the gardens, the birds, and interact with the monkeys. They also have waterfalls, and I believe some caves (I don't know if you get to tour the caves or not.) There is also a beach there but I don't know if we will be able to go to it with the park tour. I do know you can only do the park through the cruiseline. There are some threads under Roatan that talk about the park and I do remember reading a review of this specific excursion that said it was excellent.

I am counting down the days!!!! :)

Jan, Maria and I will make sure that we have the first ballroom dance on the ship. Thinking of you and Steve after Maria has a glass of chardonney wine for you Jan and I have a glass of beer for you Steve. Hopefully, we will dance as well as you guys since you took ballroom dance before us and we will save some sun for you because we know how bad the weather is out west.

Welcome Zandra and Russ:) Glad you could join Us!

Have you cruised before on any other Cruise Line?

Good luck with the airfare. Have you tried KAYAK.com? I've have good luck

with them in finding cheap airfare.

Jan, Thanks for the email, you have a very nice looking family:)

Are your kids getting excited about the cruise yet? Mine are really looking

foward to Spring Break on the Ship:D

Where is everyone else on this thread? Is anyone else getting excited yet

too?

We seen that they dropped the price on balcony to $599 last weekend

and upgraded the kids from a interior to a balcony. ( we couldn't get a

refund on our balcony that we already had though:( )P.S I see that the

price is back up and I think the ship is almost sold out.

Bob, I tried to adjust the price too, but I don't think Costa works like Carnival. Did you use a TA or did you deal directly with Costa? I have a TA and Costa said that since I had the Kids go free discount, I couldn't change anything. If I was to do this again, I think I would wait till about a month out and buy the cruise. Did the kids get a guaranteed balcony or do you know where they will be?

Zandra, I have snow too, so I can't wait to see sandy beaches. My daughter just want to find a lounger and just soak up the warm rays of the sun. She will be on the beach in Fort Lauderdale on Saturday. My son want's to go to the Pro Bass fishing store in Dania, sounds boring to me.

Since we don't sail till 7 pm, maybe our meet and greet should be late afternoon, prior to first dinner. A good place is aft on the 9 deck(Armonia)

behind the hot tub on near the railing. That way you can get drinks from the bar if you want. That is where all my others have met, easy to find. Someone pick a time and decide if this is where we want to meet, I only have made a suggestion. Bob, I will send a whole family picture soon, thanks for the quick reply.

It was great to turn the February page over on the calender:). We are looking forward to getting out of the gray midwest and into a sunnier, warmer clime. We, too, approached our Ta about some consideration, even shipboard credits, after the price drop but to no avail. On the other hand, airfare has gotten unreasonable ( to me) duee to the holiday and we feel lucky to be going.

This should be a rather different experience for us as we have never sailed during a "family friendly" time frame and I must admit some trepidation about our choice of timing, never having been on a cruise that did not consist almost solely of adults ( in terms of age, mind you, not necessarily in terms of behavior :)) .

An Armonia deck meet-up sounds like fun. On our last cruise many of us wore clown noses to the meet-up in order to recognize one another ___ if nothing else was gained we certainly entertained our fellows.

See you all soon, doug

In the past we have used blue wristband...mardi Gras beads, or just let people on thee boards know what we would be wearing ( my personal favorite). It is nice to meet, since then you know who you have been in contact with, and during the cruise you can say a passing "hello".

As for a lot of kids, that will be new for us too, even though we have travelled with the kids, never at Spring Break. They are looking forward to a lot of other kids. If there are too many, I will have to retreat to the Casino, or my balcony. What a shame!

We have sailed Princess, Rccl, Ncl, Carnival. We love Carnival. From the west coast we have done the Mexican Riviera many many times:) A good way to get friends to try cruising for the first time!

Still haven't fiqured out my airfare, maybe this weekend. I have looked at Kayak. Need to decide if we will come in a day or two early to sightsee in Ft L. Where are people staying that are coming in early? I too am ready for the Sun. Hope to get a little started so as not to burn.

Didn't really think about it being spring break and all the kids out of school. Have sailed at Christmas before and my daughter then 8, now 23, we never saw. She made lot's of friends and they kept them so busy with activities. Time will tell!

Meet and Greet Deck 9, Armonia. Sounds good. A drink in one hand and sun shine sounds even better:) Oh, and don't forget the beads:)

Does everyone have their Toga ready?

I saw if you fly from Sacramento it will be about $500 and if you drive to Oakland it is around $300. If you stay a day later it is cheaper, however hotel rooms in FLL are EXPENSIVE. We are at the Sleep Inn in Dania and that is $170 a night, The Sheraton is close to $300. Two years ago I got rooms thru priceline for $60 in Miami, what a difference. Here on the west coast of Canada it is even worse. If I flew from my home airport to Fll it is $1200 ($1000 US) pp and if I go to Seattle ( 11 hour drive) I only paid $300pp. With 4 people that is a $3600 savings and pays for the cruise. I will be driving all day Friday.

I have made 4 togas and have 3 to go... but this weekend I am off to a hockey tournament with Michael, another 8 hr drive! Up here driving is a way of life. People in California think it is a long trip to go from LA to San Diego.

I know I grew up there.

Have a good weekend....

I now have the count down on a little magnet easel on the refridgerator. Sometimes I think the anticipation is a huge part of the fun for me. The airfare was extra high this year and the hotels are downright ridiculous in

Florida. I have never had to pay this amount even on spring break times. I finally did a hotwire and got Bahia Mar Resort for $104. I was pleased with

that given the prices of others that I know are far worse hotels. The only

draw back is we will have to do cab rides as there are no shuttles. We have

to do more cab rides than I wanted to as my husband is flying in on another

carrier as we had one free airline ticket. I had it set so we would all arrive

close to the same time. As luck would have it, America West changed it and he now arrives 2 and a half hours after us. My 16 year old does not want to hang at the airport that long so we will go to the hotel I guess. Oh well, it is not to far from the airport anyway, only 4 miles.

I too tried to get an upgrade when the fares went lower but my TA said that it was way more money to do that. Don't really see how, but that is what she said. Maybe the fares had jumped up again by the time I got her to answer me. I have an obstructed view which looks at a lifeboat. Anyone know what that is like. I heard you can open the window. Is that true? It was so much less in price when I booked, and we just like to be able to know if it is day or night, so that works for us. I did get my cruise documents and I see that the main ticket just has all our names on it on one ticket. Since my husband is coming in seperate than us, I guess I will photo copy it in case he was not able to make the ship or we weren't. Does that seem resonable to everyone? I think if you explained your perdicament and had a photocopy it would pass. Sorry this is long, I am just getting so sick of snow and cold that the excitement of sun makes me chatty. Take care! Kitty

YMCA Nationals are the first week in April, in addition to the spring break for some schools, so I would think that makes it expensive for some hotels. Many of them book up blocks of rooms for the swimmers and parents. I'm not sure if they have all recovered from the hurricane damage from the year before, too.

We are using my husband's Marriott points to stay at the Springhill Suites. We had to use a LOT of points since they didn't have any of the usual point level rooms left. Our flight doesn't get in until late that Saturday (I SO hope it actually gets in with the way flights have been canceled lately!), so it's more just a place to stay and eat breakfast. They do offer a shuttle.

We are Steve and Dona, just booked on this cruise. Costa was having quite a sale price on balcony cabins and we felt we couldn't pass it up. Our children are all grown, so we well be by ourselves. We live in the Orlando area and will drive down the day of departure.

This sailing seems to be the busiest thread on Costa. We have been very suprised at how little information there is on the Costa board, but look forward to finding things out as we go along.

It seems that there may be an issue with electrical equipment. I recall one post that said there was only one US outlet in the cabin, the rest were European. Anyone have any ideas where to buy adaptors? We haven't started shopping yet, but it seems that a couple will be needed for the various pieces of electrical equipment we will be bringing.

We look forward to seeing everyone on Deck 9.
