tiggrbaby Posted March 3, 2007 #101 Share Posted March 3, 2007 We are Steve and Dona, just booked on this cruise. Costa was having quite a sale price on balcony cabins and we felt we couldn't pass it up. Our children are all grown, so we well be by ourselves. We live in the Orlando area and will drive down the day of departure. This sailing seems to be the busiest thread on Costa. We have been very suprised at how little information there is on the Costa board, but look forward to finding things out as we go along. It seems that there may be an issue with electrical equipment. I recall one post that said there was only one US outlet in the cabin, the rest were European. Anyone have any ideas where to buy adaptors? We haven't started shopping yet, but it seems that a couple will be needed for the various pieces of electrical equipment we will be bringing. We look forward to seeing everyone on Deck 9. I usually bring a power strip for my items. Easier to find everything in one place.
Yeldarb Posted March 4, 2007 #102 Share Posted March 4, 2007 Hi Rowse, We've had the 5a obstructed views before on the carnival miracle. If that's what you have it's like a balcony cabin without a balcony, doors that open to a lovely view of the side of a life boat. You can get some breeze and some daylight but not much view at all. Better than an inside. Cheers, Brad
zandramarie Posted March 4, 2007 #103 Share Posted March 4, 2007 Has anyone looked at shoretrips.com? They have listed lot's of different excursions. We have already been to Cozumel before and did the Chankanaab Park. Was a very fun day. We just took a taxi from the pier and spent the day there. Also have done stringrays at Grand Caymen and that was also a highlight from our trip. We did both of these Oct. 2005 on the Carnival Conquest. Ohhhhhh I can see the crystal clear shades of blue seas now:) So to decide what to do on this trip. I have checked flights all day. Southwest Dings from every airport around and still come up with over $500 p.p. from Sacramento and almost $400 p.p. from Oakland. Any tips:0) How long should I hold out. I just hate the idea I will be paying more for the flight than my inside cabin:) You go girl on those toga's! They say they leave you a bed sheet and directions on your bed how to fix one up. That will be me. I will be lucky and creative to do a head piece for our hair. That is the last night and will be a fun time with our new found friends!:) Zandra
ROWSE Posted March 4, 2007 #104 Share Posted March 4, 2007 Shore excursions: Key West: Just walking around and probably Ernest Hemmingways house as our daughter wants to be an architect and that has some interesting things there. Grand Cayman: Private tour with Captain Bryan's Buccaneer Stingray City*Excursion. It goes to Stingray City and two other snorkel places. Roatan: We are doing a private with Bodden Tours. Cozumel: We are doing the bike ride beach break which is one of the ship's tours. I think on airfare $400 is a really good deal right now. They have only gone up since we booked about a month ago. Good luck on that. If you do a Southwest you can always get a credit for future flight if they go down. It is really expensive for Spring Break. zandramarie Posted March 8, 2007 #110 Share Posted March 8, 2007 Received our documents today:0) It has last name first, first name last, is everyone's else like that or did they make a mistake. Have a one way ticket booked. Sacramento to Ft. Lauderdale. Doing the red eye. Now to find a flight back:) Are any of the guys bringing a tux on this cruise? My husband has never wore one before but we bought one this yr, to good of a deal to pass up:) and so we are going to pack it. I know on cruises people dress to the nines and others don't. Might feel out of place. Everyone have thier suitcases out? It is hard folding winter sweaters and thinking in less than a month will be wearing shorts:) Although we are suppose to be in the high seventy's this weekend. Chance to catch some sun! tiggrbaby Posted March 8, 2007 #111 Share Posted March 8, 2007 Our docs have my last name and my husband's last name spelled incorrectly (and differently!), but the boys have it spelled correctly. Called Costa, and they said that it is OK in the computer, so it won't be a problem; I hope they are right!!
drb Posted March 8, 2007 #112 Share Posted March 8, 2007 Are any of the guys bringing a tux on this cruise? Well I'm bringing my tux 'cause I have not had a chance to wear it since my last cruise :) Different strokes for different folks and all that but this is one of the few occasions for which I dress up. Anything I can do to encourage my lovely wife to dress up works for me. I have not yet started counting the hours but I fear I may start soon.
RuckN Posted March 8, 2007 #113 Share Posted March 8, 2007 Yes, will be bringing my tux. Of course you must wear a tie it yourself bow tie with it. Let's you untie in the casino after dinner and sport the James Bond casual look. How about shore excursions, has anyone found any interesting ones? We were going to pass on most ports but found a wave runner/stingray tour in Grand Cayman that looked like fun. Signed up to do the cooking thing through the ship in Coizumel. Key West we will do on our own, don't think you really need much help there. From what I have read about Roatan, it doesn't look like there is much worth doing. We may hunt up the botanical garden for my wife as she likes that stuff.
ROWSE Posted March 9, 2007 #114 Share Posted March 9, 2007 I think my husband will be bringing his tux. It is fun to dress up. Random question to all past cruisers: Do you put the ship's luggage tags on before you fly to Fort Lauderdale, or after you get there? If you do put them on, have they ever been damaged in transit? I usually wiat till we are ready to leave from the hotel to the ship but something I read made me think that if the luggage was lost they would know where it should go. Thanks!
Jdleong Posted March 9, 2007 Author #115 Share Posted March 9, 2007 What I usually do, is put the cruise luggage tags on at the hotel. However, on the top of the clothes in the suitcase, I put an itinerary including the dates, location, and ship info of where we will be, and on the luggage tags from the airlines ( or your own) our cell # of the phone we are carrying. Luckily , the luggage has all shown up at the airport. Jan

Jdleong Posted March 13, 2007 Author #118 Share Posted March 13, 2007 Today I awoke to snow on the ground, and later it was hailing buckets of little pellets. The temperture is going to -4C tonight and I can't wait till I get to be hot! It has to be warmer then here. With this weather I will be the whitest ( not tanned) on the whole cruise. Hope everyone is getting their stuff together Less than three weeks! Jan

Hope everyone is getting their stuff together Less than three weeks!Jan Jan , Sounds like you need a vacation :D Here in Michigan we've had a break in the cold and snow and might be in the 60's soon:) My son and I booked a shark dive in Roatan. ( Jackie wants to know what the survival rate is for this and might up my life insurance;) ) We both enjoy SCUBA and hope to dive in Cozumel too, although we haven't booked anything yet there. Jackie and Whitney booked the Zip Line through the jungle in Roatan while we are diving. The Zip line brings you right into the Gumbalimba Park:p . We booked it through Costa. As far as the luggage tags , we get ours at the port because we have electronic tickets. We usually put address labels on the tags . Bob
Jdleong Posted March 13, 2007 Author #120 Share Posted March 13, 2007 Bob, tell Jackie that Ziplining is so much fun. We did it in Costa Rica and had a blast. When I was in Grand Cayman, we saw nurse sharks, but they are harmless. That is the only excursion we have planned so far, going snorkeling with the stingrays. Key West seems not to have too much, so I am just planning to walk around and find some Key Lime pie. I plan to go to Tayabana Beach on a ship excursion, but haven't booked it yet. If it fills up, I will just take a taxi to the west end and walk onto the beach. Cozumel, I haven't the foggyest idea of what we will do, as I haven't been there since the hurricanes. The family we are travelling with have never cruised, so everything is new to them, hope they like it. Hey everyone, what time is good to meet? I have late dining so I am not rushed to be at dinner.. The ship doesn't sail till 7 but people will be dining at 5:30 . It would be good to get all the kids to meet, so they will know someone right a way. Pick a time! Crusso Posted March 14, 2007 #123 Share Posted March 14, 2007 Hi Everybody!!! My hubby Chris, 41, and I, 28, can't wait to cruise again. It's been a year since we were on the Magica (didn't like that ship as much) and we are excited to get back on the Mediterranea. It's a smaller boat and more personal. The crew was great and our table mates were nice. We are traveling with a couple from Phoenix. This will be our third cruise with them. :) :D We can't wait!!!!:D :) Corrie and Chris Fort Lauderdale, Florida
Yeldarb Posted March 14, 2007 #124 Share Posted March 14, 2007 Sounds like you have been on the Med before. I've been on two of the carnival spirit class ships and agree that I like the layout better than the victory class ships like the magica. I did enjoy the decorations on the Magica so I hope the Mediterena is as "fancy". We loved the staff on the magica and the Cruising Italian style. Anyway welcome aboard.
