Upper deck or Panarama?

LACRUISING

You will love the Panarama deck. This is our favorite. We had a balcony on that deck on the Liberty, and we liked it so much we booked it again for the Valor. There are not very many rooms on that deck and it is easy access to the Lido and buffett. The spa is right above so very quiet at night. Have fun!

I agree!!! I LOVED my balcony on the Panorama Deck of the Glory (sister ship)!! I selected it in the forst place and would certainly do it again!

I will be on Valor on that deck in 2 weeks

This is what I have learned from my research and photos.

It is a smaller deck, meaning less cabins and less traffic = quieter

Any cabin should be fairly close to an elevator and our deck has both the glass atrium elevators and the regular bank of 4...meaning we have more elevators to get to our deck.

If you exit out the rear (aft) doors of this deck, it opens up at the bottom of the pool slide and onto a tiered sundeck and steps down to the Lido deck and the Argonaut Pool/spas on that deck....So, you walk out those doors and it opens up to the pools on Lido, and remember that the Lido deck is deck 9....the two decks that go bow to stern is 5 & 9...you have easy access to Lido buffet and pretty much the entire ship from just outside your cabin door.

The elevator on this smaller deck goes directly to;

The Purser and shore tours desk, Main atrium and the Lincoln Dining room on the Main Deck.

Library, Gallery and theatre on the Atlantic deck

and the Boulevard Shops, and Casino on the Promenade deck

I haven't stayed on it yet, but sounds perfect to me...quiet, bit more intimate, with easy access to most anywhere on board

Just got off the Valor yesterday. Let me clear up a few things on the previous poster, most of which is right.

First, you DO want the Panorama Deck. We had an interior cabin 1020 and loved the deck. It's smaller, fewer rooms, less hallway traffic...and it is convenient as stated to the Lido deck.

Now for some clarifications:

Any cabin should be fairly close to an elevator and our deck has both the glass atrium elevators and the regular bank of 4...meaning we have more elevators to get to our deck.

Yes, most cabins are pretty close to an elevator. Your elevators are the four atrium ones...and then EIGHT---four on each side of your lobby area on the deck. So all in all you have access to 12 elevators. Remember...ONE DING is going UP and TWO DINGS is going DOWN.

You are correct. Very easy access and very easy to get back and forth.

The elevator on this smaller deck goes directly to;

The Purser and shore tours desk, Main atrium and the Lincoln Dining room on the Main Deck.

Library, Gallery and theatre on the Atlantic deck

and the Boulevard Shops, and Casino on the Promenade deck

Sort of. It's not like you step right out and are there. You'll have to walk around the atrium to get to those places, but they are just right around the corner. The only drawback for us was that we were seated in the Washington Dining Room so it was a long walk. You'll also have access to the theater on three different decks.....but you're pretty much dead on from what you've picked up from the deck plans.

YOU WILL LOVE THIS DECK AND THIS SHIP! I've got a review posted on the board as well....it's called JUST OFF VALOR 9/3/06 REVIEW

We had rooms 1006 and 1014 on the Liberty and loved this deck. Plan on booking it again for next year. I have not noticed any more movement on this deck as opposed to others. Movement is a personal perspective. Some people will notice it more than others no matter what deck or location on that deck.

Thank you all for your input. I feel better about the upgrade now. I haven't seen much talk on the boards about the Panorama Deck and wasn't sure it was a good move. After reading all of yoru posts and checking out the deck plan, I think it will be fun up there. Thanks!

What is the public area at the front of this deck like? Are there chairs there? I read one horror story about drunks creating noise there at night - is this commonplace???

We have just been allocated a cabin on this deck right at the front....

I like the idea of being so close to the pool and not far from Camp Carnival for our son either...

You should not be able to hear noise from the deck to your cabin. There is a bit of space (the atrium) and then glass doors which separate the cabin areas from the outside deck.

As a matter of fact when I was out on my balcony the night of the big deck party I could still barely hear anything from the deck as the movement of the ship and the sound of the water absorbed all the sound.

If you are referring to the large balcony area all the way forward on Panorama, not too many people even know that it exists. Any time that we've gone out there, it is usually pretty deserted.

That's very true. Last week we went out on that very large balcony area all the way forward on the Panorama deck. We were out there at least once a day or more and only saw one other couple out there EVER all week long and that was the last night. On the doors there are signs saying "do not open because of high winds catching the door". We were told this was because there are two doors (a small space between the interior and exterior doors) and a vaccum can be created which causes the doors to slam...if you open the interior door, close it behind you...and then open the exterior door but hold on firmly, you'll be fine. There are stairs out on that balcony that let you go down to the next level as well.

There are also doors forward on a couple of the lower decks...one being the Upper deck I think, which will let you stand down below the bridge and look up at it.

Yep, that's the pool right by the slide. The slide itself does not end in the pool....but right off to the exit of the slide is that pool. Then there's the pool/whirlpools on Deck 9 midship...and then another pool and whirlpools on the rear of Deck 9. the one in the back has a retractable roof for bad weather.

So, which deck would be more relaxing to get some sun and just relax? 10? Is it quieter on 10?

In all seriousness, the quietest Deck for sunning is the Adults Only/Top Optional Funnel Deck above the jogging track forward and up from the Basketball court. 2nd would probably be the area forward of the waterslide entrance on Sky Deck. Lido and Panorama are where most people hang out, and end up being pretty crowded.

EDIT:

Forgot to add this to my earlier post regarding the forward public balcony area on Panorama....No. There are no deck chairs in this area. There is/are 1 or 2 benches, but 0 deck chairs.

My PVP emailed today that she got me upgraded to the Panorama deck. I too was wondering if I wanted this deck since you hear so little about it. Reading your posts puts me at ease, sounds like we will like it. Of course, any deck would be okay, just get me on the ship. I was also wondering...is it too early for my PVP to know what deck I will be on next April?

As stated earlier we loved the panaroma deck. We were in the further most balcony cabin on the Liberty - 1006. Be warned if you are in the first cabin you can see into the bridge and they can see you if standing on the balcony. It was actually kind of cool when leaving San Juan at midnight. I concur with the other posters that the public area in the front is very under used. It is a great place to watch the ship arrive or leave port. On the Liberty there were 2 benches here and a "telescope" on the deck. You know the kind they have on the top of tall buildings. Have a great cruise and enjoy this deck. It is the best.

We stayed on the Panorama deck in cabin 8124 on the Legend last year and we just loved it! We are sailing on the Legend again this Sunday and we have the exact same room!!

Panorama on Legend is different.

It's a full deck and below Lido

Panorama on Conquest class (Conquest/Valor/Liberty) is a smaller deck above Lido.
