avalon1025 Posted October 11, 2006 #1 Share Posted October 11, 2006 Hi all, Just booked a cate SS on the Prinsendam, any thoughts. Are they in decent condition? Anyone know when the cabins were last refreshed on this ship? Thanks!

jhannah Posted October 11, 2006 #3 Share Posted October 11, 2006 We've sailed the Prinsendam twice, both times in SS cabins. They are wonderful! You'll enjoy, I'm sure.

Do they have a full sized tub in the bathroom?Yes, they have a full size tub. Cabin 035 was our cabin on the 113 day 2005 World Cruise and we have it booked for the 66 day Circle South America/Antartica next year. You might say we're somewhat familiar with that cabin:D

JDRMYS Posted October 12, 2006 #9 Share Posted October 12, 2006 If you can switch, I would suggest trying to get SY cabins 22 to 29. These are forward but have substantially larger balconies. Years ago, when the ship was the Seabourn Sun, we crossed the atlantic in #29. It was a wonderful cabin with a balcony that jutted out farther than that of the cabins aft of it thus giving a wrap-around view. The storage space and the arrangement of the bathroom with the toilet and a 2nd sink in a separate compartment are wonderful. On our trip, the ship was also remakably stable and we felt almost no motion even being forward on an atlantic crossing.

If it makes a difference, you can access the wireless internet from SY035, but not from the cabins further forward. The balconies are about 18 inches wider on those forward cabins... the drawback is that you may be in plain view on your balcony if you are in the first cabin (29) forward of the kickout and are close to the rail. avalon1025 Posted October 14, 2006 Author #11 Share Posted October 14, 2006 I think I am going to stay in cabin 35, I am occupying the cabin solo, so I don't need the extra space on the balcony, I am sure its large enough for one. Thank you all for your great responses.
CruisinTexans Posted October 15, 2006 #12 Share Posted October 15, 2006 We could get internet access in SS #22 (now SY 22) also. We had to leave our stateroom door open while on the internet but since we were the last cabin forward the only people walking by were ship's officers whose quarters were forward of our stateroom. The larger deck was really nice. Our cabin didn't have the curved sofa like most of the SS cabins, so we couldn't seat as many but we did have a straight sofa that was great for stretching out to read or watch TV on.
