SW.FloridaPhil Posted December 19, 2006 #1 Share Posted December 19, 2006 A nice little place, quaint or funky, with a view of the ocean, where I can have a few cold ones or cocktails with out having to pay the inflated prices of the cruise ship bars?? daWoods Posted December 19, 2006 #2 Share Posted December 19, 2006 I'm sure there's lots of them. Finding them is the problem in a short time. There's a Hard Rock Cafe on the main drag in Kona that has a view of the ocean and your cruise ship. Prices aren't cheap though, but better than the ship. Check out some Hawaiian web sites that give info on dining, etc.
Spikesgirl Posted December 19, 2006 #3 Share Posted December 19, 2006 Try the Kona Inn in Kona. The drinks aren't really expensive and it's very comfortable. There is a lawn between you and the ocean wall, but you can still see it. Not so sure about Hilo. Charlie
kapoho2 Posted December 20, 2006 #4 Share Posted December 20, 2006 I live on the Big Island of Hawaii....and really the cruise ship drink prices do not seem that inflated to me. Everything here costs more. I cannot think of anyplace where drinks are that much cheaper than on the ship....especially a place with a view. Those are usually the places where the tourists flock...and so the prices are not cheap. You might (or might not) be able to get a drink that is a bit stronger than on the ship..but that is about it. I am sure there are places on the side streets that may serve a cheaper beer.....but that Mai-tail with a sunset going on is priceless!! Just enjoy.
