S.S.Oceanlover Posted July 24, 2004 #1 Share Posted July 24, 2004 What's up with Carnivals e-mail responses. It seems any time I want a simple question answered I always get a reply to call 1-800-Carnival to help me better? Do they ever actually answer a question via e-mail? I asked a simple question: When would final payment be due for the 10/22 Legend cruise to nowhere leaving from NY. They couldn't answer that????? (sorry just venting) Bill
RichardK Posted July 24, 2004 #2 Share Posted July 24, 2004 I'm neither being argumentative or rude, but cruise lines have standard policies on final payment which is generally pretty well known -- e.g., 70-days prior for 7 day cruises, etc. Plus, that information is very easily obtainable on their's and other cruise line's web-site, under FAQ, etc. With limited resources, maybe you are getting a canned/quick response, and they are giving the personal touch in hitting the more important, "harder" questions first??? Just my thoughts.................
S.S.Oceanlover Posted July 24, 2004 Author #3 Share Posted July 24, 2004 Richard, I didn't think your response was either rude nor argumentative. Believe me I spent 10-15 minutes looking through the FAQS and other places on their website but couldn't find the information I needed. After that amount of time I figured it would be easier to just email them. Since cruises to nowhere are not the norm the final payment dates are different from regular cruises. I was asking because the agency i booked with wanted final payment July 29 when initially I was told Aug 23. Everybody else i know that is booked on this cruise also has a final payment date of Aug 23. Below are the categories listed on the FAQS page. kajsb Posted July 24, 2004 #5 Share Posted July 24, 2004 This info from the Carnival website might help you. My next cruise is booked through Costco and they have an earlier deadline than Carnival for the final payment. My guess is that it gives them time to complete their processing and forward the info to Carnival. Maybe that's why your T.A. has an earlier date. S.S.Oceanlover Posted July 24, 2004 Author #6 Share Posted July 24, 2004 Kathy, Thank you for the information you posted. I found it very helpful. I understand your initial point about wanting the money a little earlier in some cases and have encountered that with a few of our cruises we had previously booked. It turned out that it was a computer glitch in my travel agencies computer system. I was on the phone yesterday with them and finally got it straightened out. :) Bill
StefanieMS Posted July 24, 2004 #7 Share Posted July 24, 2004 SS Oceanlover you are not alone. I have received the same email response for three seperate questions. I was so frustrated that I sent them a letter asking if they respond to emails. Funny, I never received a response to the letter either. I hope I never have a serious problem with them. Stefanie

S.S.Oceanlover Posted July 25, 2004 Author #9 Share Posted July 25, 2004 Thanks Deb. I don't have a carnival brochure anymore. :( It got so ratty I had to throw it out. Another depressing weekend with no cruises booked. ;) Bill
Snowball Posted July 25, 2004 #10 Share Posted July 25, 2004 Maybe you need to order a new brochure from Carnival's website. You may see something on there that will entice you to book a cruise for next year.
