Smoking on the Noordam

What is the smoking policy on the Noordam? I've read the posts about cigars, but can you smoke cigarettes in the public areas of the ship? What about your private suites? And the casinos? Just don't want to be surprised, or upset not knowing the guidelines. Don't want to offend anyone either with my "bad" habits! :)

Yes, you can smoke in your cabin and balcony. As far as public areas go, there is smoking in the casino, bars have designated smoking areas which will have an ash tray on the table with a sign saying designated smoking area. The dining room, Lido and Pinnacle Grill, show lounge are all non-smoking.

 

Don't worry, being a smoker, I have never had a problem finding a designated smoking area on any of the HAL ships. Enjoy your cruise.

Thanks....it's sometimes a pain being a smoker, but I'm weak I guess. NO smoking in the casino is a drag. Maybe I'll spend less time there=less money!:(

The Sports Bar is right across from the Casino, so you can take a smoking "break".

When I sailed the Volendam last year, you could smoke in the casino. Not sure if that has changed or not, but last I knew you could.

I've read many recent posts stating that there is no smoking in the Noordam casino.

Doone...on the Noordam there is NO smoking in the Casino at any time. The Sports Bar Lounge across the way is smoking though.

 

Also there is NO smoking at the tables in the Lido area near the indoor pool...only at the mid-ships bar. So far, this is only true on the Noordam.

 

Other than that there is a small smoking area in the Ocean Bar (port side) and in the Crow's Nest near the Bar.

 

You are allowed to smoke in your cabin or on your varandah as well as outside on Lido deck on starboard side near the bar

There wasn't any smoking on our 12/27/06 cruise in the Casino. I also noticed that the Casino wasn't very well visited either. Not sure if the smoking ban had anything to do with it.

Thanks for your replys. Hope I'll be so busy that it won't matter. Either too busy, or too relaxed!:) Guess I'll find out soon. Sailing from NYC on 2/28/07. Can't wait. Hubby has already packed....think he might be anxious????? Thanks again everyone!:cool:

Youn can smoke in the Casino, on all Pool decks, and outside on the Lower Promenade.......

 

Not currently in the Noordam's Casino. At least, when I was aboard her Jan 6-17, 2007. The Casino was labeled as non-smoking, and they had a sign up to remind people. Also, at the mid-ship's lido pool only on one side of the deck is smoking allowed.

As of December......

 

The Casino is a NON-SMOKING VENUE (Had been for weeks, and no indication they would be allowing it again anytime soon)

 

Smoking is allowed in the following areas:

Stateroom and Balconies (Use extreme caution)

Small section of the Sports Bar (Adjacent to the Casino)

Small section of the Ocean Bar

Lido Pool Bar Midship

Small section of the Crow's Nest

Open decks including Promenade, Aft pool, and Observation deck

 

Unsure of:

Piano Bar

Pinnacle Bar

Explorers Lounge

Atrium Bar

 

I also noticed the casino seemed lightly used. No where near the number of people as there was on previous cruises. Could be the non- smoking, could be because the slots were tight, any number of reasons.

LizB1, thank you for that correction, I was unaware of that on the Noordam. I knew on the Volendam I smoked in the casino. In any event, there are places to smoke, I never found it hard to find a designated smoking area.

There is no smoking in the Piano Bar on the Noordam, and never has been. The smoking section of the Sports Bar is steps away.

The smoking room next to the Explorers' Lounge has been taken over by a Turkish Bazzar, so there is no smoking area there anymore.

Not on Noordam. You can smoke in the sports bar acoss from the casino but not in the casino.
