skagway tours

must have done the train a dozen times or so when I had family in juneau, not doing it on this vacation any recommendations on other tours or things to do in skagway.....

I am also thinking that with all the sitting on the boat, on the train, on the busses and on the plane....

I'd like to find things to do that involve more movement :)

We are considering the Chilkoot Trail Hike & Float too. I'm a bit concerned about the raft. My husband has a bad shoulder and can't do any type of paddling. We can never go canoeing or kayaking. Do the guides paddle for you or are you required to paddle as well?

The guide did all the steering -- Just sit back and hold on to the ropes. It wasn't a very long float - maybe 20 minutes?

I think you could also do the canoe trip at Glacier Point. We had a couple people who couldn't or chose not to paddle at all.

The canoe has a motor, and the guide used that when we got too far off course (not an experience paddler in the bunch!) or if the group got tired. We had one fellow in our canoe with a broken arm, and he spent the whole time taking pictures. Go. Enjoy!

We've done two extremes in Skagway. Went dogsledding - quite expensive but loved every minute of it. We also love to walk around town go to the museums. We also took the fast ferry to Haines once.
