MINIjen Posted April 20, 2007 #1 Share Posted April 20, 2007 I bought this dress for our upcoming cruise (June 1st to Alaska) I want to buy some sort of wrap for it. Which of these would look best? I also plan to wear this to a wedding so keep that in mind too. Black Knit Shrug Black Chiffon Shawl
heyitsmejudy Posted April 20, 2007 #2 Share Posted April 20, 2007 I vote for the shawl... that'd be really pretty. It's thin enough that it wouldn't overpower the strapless dress like the sweater thing would... that would look like two "seasons" of clothes, IMO. I also don't get the whole "shrug" thing. I realize they're in fashion but they look like folks dried them on the wrong cycle and are just trying to keep their boobs warm!
Nitra Posted April 20, 2007 #3 Share Posted April 20, 2007 For a dressier occasion I would go with the shawl. I have a few shrugs and love them. Sometimes I just have to try them on with things to see how it looks.
ShedQueen77 Posted April 21, 2007 #4 Share Posted April 21, 2007 What a beautiful dress! I would go with the shawl. It really would "dress up" the dress even more. :)
suezyq50 Posted April 21, 2007 #5 Share Posted April 21, 2007 I would go with the shawl. I have shawls tied in the back that gives the illusion of a shrug.
worf3 Posted April 21, 2007 #6 Share Posted April 21, 2007 shrug.:D

aaatrm Posted April 21, 2007 #8 Share Posted April 21, 2007 Beautiful dress! I think the shawl would look awesome with it!
RI-Sailor Posted April 21, 2007 #9 Share Posted April 21, 2007 Without even getting down to your two options, I was thinking of a black sheer shawl! The embroidery on the dress is too pretty to cover up with something opaque!
RCCLismyfav Posted April 21, 2007 #10 Share Posted April 21, 2007 I think the shawl would look the best.
careywv Posted April 21, 2007 #11 Share Posted April 21, 2007 What a beautiful dress! I would go with the shawl. It really would "dress up" the dress even more. :) I second this opinion about the shawl. I have some shrugs but I use them for more casual outfits. :D
Nebr.cruiser Posted April 21, 2007 #12 Share Posted April 21, 2007 I like the look of the shawl better, especially for a wedding, but, if you're like me, I simply can't keep a shawl actually up and around my shoulders. Maybe I am slope-shouldered or have poor posture, or something. If you have this problem and are wanting the wrap to actually stay warm, I'd go with the shrug. It does make the dress look more casual though. If keeping the shawl up is no problem, it looks much dressier.
RCCLismyfav Posted April 21, 2007 #13 Share Posted April 21, 2007 I've seen ladies tie their shawl from behind and it looks like a wrap, maybe that might be a thought????
BlueHerons Posted April 21, 2007 #14 Share Posted April 21, 2007 My opinion is going to differ. Personally, I think the chiffon shawl is too dressy for the cotton dress. I think the shrug is much more appropriate or get the shawl is a less dressy fabric.
smoothdancer Posted April 21, 2007 #15 Share Posted April 21, 2007 I like the shawl but absolutley I have the same problem as a previous poster... I can just never keep them on my shoulders!.. Does anyone have any tips? BTW was that dress from the Balck and White site? I love the dress.
melissa76 Posted April 22, 2007 #16 Share Posted April 22, 2007 Another vote for the shawl! I love the dress, and it's definitely more of a "young" look. The style of the shrug mateches that. I think the shawl is way too matronly for the dress. Melissa :)
CJ7 Posted April 22, 2007 #17 Share Posted April 22, 2007 I think the shawl looks much nicer. The shrug looks too casual. Where did you find the shawl? I need one also.

Chigirlcruzin Posted April 22, 2007 #21 Share Posted April 22, 2007 I like the shawl too. Here's another option. And it's only $29.99 at White House Black Market.
