jandiart Posted June 25, 2007 #1 Share Posted June 25, 2007 What perks do you get as a Mariner Club member? I haven't been able to find any information on this.
Old As Dirt Mom Posted June 25, 2007 #2 Share Posted June 25, 2007 You haven't been able to find info regarding Mariner perks, because, sadly, there aren't really any. You get a pin for sailing 25 to 50 days, a medallion for sailing 100+ days, a blue and white Delft Holland America coaster-sized tile on each cruise that you sail as a Mariner, and maybe, perhaps, an occasional price break, but not much of one. A nice new development is the Mariner Luncheons which are beginning to take place on the HAL ships, which include a sit-down three-course lunch with wine and the presence of the ship's captain, hotel manager, and cruise director. I'm still coming back to cruise on HAL again, though.;) Karin
jhannah Posted June 25, 2007 #3 Share Posted June 25, 2007 Karin is correct. Since around 80% of those who sail Holland America ships are Mariners (repeat passengers) they really don't need to do much of anything to incent us to come back. Here's a link to the HAL Mariner Society website.
RuthC Posted June 25, 2007 #4 Share Posted June 25, 2007 And now that a luncheon has been substituted for the former Mariners' Reception we don't even get the good nuts anymore!
Fblack Posted June 26, 2007 #5 Share Posted June 26, 2007 For what it's worth, that's one reason I prefer to sail on Celebrity if possible. I like their Elite member perks. But I am on HAL in September for back to backs.
Randyk47 Posted June 26, 2007 #6 Share Posted June 26, 2007 There are some very good reasons to cruise on HAL, unfortunately the Mariner's Program is not one of them. That said it's still our cruiseline of choice. :)
