I am leaving for Vancouver tomorrow. I just checked the forecast in Juneau,

Skagway. and Ketchikan and rain is forecasted for ALL ports.

Bummer! When it rains, does it rain very hard and all day? I sure hope not

We had the exact same forecast for our 6/22 Alaskan cruise and we only had a little drizzle when we arrived in Ketchikan. We had mostly overcast skies but no rain at all. So don't think it will necessarily rain the whole time. Just be prepared for it and hope it doesn't come!

Have a wonderful cruise, it is so beautiful there! I still can't believe how breathtaking it is.

Why doesn't some of that rain make its way down the West coast and here to Bend? We've had very little rain this summer and it's hot - hot - hot. Another 90 degree day in store, and all 90 degree days as far as the eye can see. If you want hot, dry weather, then maybe you should be vacationing here in Bend, OR.

Happy cruising to all!

Hi:) I sailed to Alaska last summer and in doing my research

I learned many things.....one is that Alaska (the southern part anyway)

is a rainforest. They actually measure the yearly totals in FEET

rather than inches!

I was very lucky on my particular sailing as it only rained twice

and both times were on sea days.

But please don't be too surprised if it rains....bring ponchos with you.

It is a normal part of the weather pattern.....just dress appropriately

and enjoy the cruise:)

Stu, do me a favor. Blow all those rain drops east. We're in such a drought here in Wisconsin, and we could use all the rain we can get. I don't have a lawn anymore, just a few acres of yellow straw. It's really nasty.

I had the same forecast. What we got was sunny in Juneau around 78 for most of the day untilthe clouds rolled in.... rain in Skagway.... about 68... and sunny about 70 in Ketchikan.

Blame the jetstream..... the same jetstream which is wrecking havoc in the UK.
