Tipping On Celebrity

Hi all, can someone please tell me if it is possible to put tips on your shipboard account? I know some other cruiselines do this, but it doesn't say on celebrities web-site. I'm just trying to determine cash neccessary for trip.

Thank you,

Howard - Yes celebrity has the options to put your tips on your account. About 1/2 way through the cruise you will get a form on your bed with the options. It is only available if you choose to give the full recommended tips. You can also choose to add additional amounts.

If you choose this option, envelopes will be delivered to your room with vouchers for each person. You can also over tip in cash at this point if you choose.

If you did not choose this option you will receive empty envelopes and can put your tips in cash.

I understand there is a third option. You can choose to have your tips applied to your account prior to the cruise and pay for them when the final payment is due.

Yes. they send around a form a couple of days befor the last night for you to sign and return and it automaticly adds your tips to your account. Then on the last night, they leave envelopes and printed notes to give out to the crew, Room Steward, asst. steward, etc. You can add more if you want.

Hope this helps. have a great cruise! Pat

Howard, as Jim previously mentioned, you can add your tips to your shipboard account. We always pay ours before we travel, and we always put cash on our account with our final payment. This way, we don't have to travel with so much cash (especially those TransAtlantics!;) ), and you can withdraw on board just like I do at home!!

As others have said, yes you can put tips on your account. You also have the option to prepay the tips prior to your travel as Cajunliner mentioned. You just pay for them as you do your cruise costs or shore excursions.

Enjoy your cruise

I know it has been discussed before (although I have never done it yet) but I hear you can get a no fee cash advance at the Casino that will be added to your shipboard account. I do wish to do this on our upcoming cruise to limit the amount of cash I travel with....Is this really as easy as it sounds?

Shawn & Angie, the easiest way to have cash on board and not have to travel with it is to put it on your shipboard account before you cruise. This is what we have always done, and when we board we are given a "voucher" of sorts showing a credit to our account. Never had a problem with this. It really comes in handy.

Hi everyone and thank you for the answers to my question. Donnan, I had never heard of that kind of arrangement. Ever. Do all cruiselines allow this? So, this works just like a bank? Wow. I think though I will just add tips to on board account. This is easiest for me. If I have money in a bank set-up, I'd probably over spend at the casino. The way I usually do this gives me just what I can blow on a day to day basis.

Thanks again,

YES

I have done this and it is treated as a PURCHASE [not cash advance] and will be part of the overall sea pass charge [with no surcharge of any kind]at the end of the cruise. Apparently you can put cash onto your account prior to the cruise, but why one would want to go to the trouble of giving Celebrity an interest free loan, when it is easier to do it on board is beyond my comprehension. The only downside for me is having to walk thru the smoke of the casino to get to the cashier cage:cool: Of course they are hoping that you will use some or all of it as a "contribution" to the casino.
