island princess, where is the best place for sailing away

I really think it depends on port of departure, and weather.

Were I on the Island or Coral, sailing from San Francisco in decent weather, I would opt for an outdoor bar, preferably towards the stern, port side, so I could get a good view of Alcatraz (which is off to starboard), Marina Green, the Presidio, Fort Point, and of course, the magnificent Golden Gate Bridge.

Most other domestic ports an interior bar would be fine with me.

Hi Jane,

I was on the Island Princess May 15th to Alaska. We tried to have a meet in Wheelhouse but it wasn't open before sailaway. Crooners and the pool bar were the only ones open (I think). Crooners is indoors so you might want to opt for the pool bar. There is a covered area there where you could meet if it were raining. You might want to be more specific, for instance specify that you will meet on the port or the starboard side outside of the Horizon Court as the pool area is pretty large. Also, I think there are bars on both the level of the pool and on the next deck up, which is kind of the pool "balcony". Horizon Court is on the pool level.

If you have any other Island questions I'd be happy to try and answer them.

Hi: we were on the Coral (sister to island) and we met at the Lido bar and it worked out great. There were tables there, we sat and drank also could see out the windows for sailway. You will have to decide whether starboard or port as some of your group may smoke which in that case would be portside. Hope this helps.
