I've seen ship classes mentioned here on CC. What are the different classes, and what is the difference? I tried looking on Carnival's website, but couldn't find any useful information.

Holiday class

Fantasy class

Destiny class

Triumph class

Spirit class

Conquest class

Splendour class

 

 

The big difference is age and ship capacity. The Holiday class is the oldest and hold fewer passengers and also does not have an atrium. All other classes of ships have an atrium. The Destiny, triumph, spirit, conquest and splendour class offer much more balcony cabins than fantasy and holiday class. The destiny, triumph, conquest class all are the same basic design just different size and decor.

Are there things, besides size (and the atrium) that make one class better than another? I guess, what I mean, is that do the individual classes have things that are special to only that class?

Each class does have something different, for DW and I we like the spirit class for thier wraparound balconies, they have seperate a bedroom

Thank you so much for this. I want to try Carnival again in 2009 and was trying to find out when all the ships were put into service. I knew which ships were in which class, but couldn't find a reliable source of their in-service dates.

Yes, most definitely differences. I prefer the Spirit class also because of the aft Lido deck which is completely open to the sea (270 degrees) with an adult pool and jacuzzi, a bar for a beer now and then, and through the door to the buffet. The layout of Spirit class ships is more desirable for me also. I like the different venues spread thoughout the ship. Although not the largest class, its just fine for me.

I just looked over the deck plans for the conquest class and the "new" splendor class and I cant find anything really different between them. is there any??

From what I understand it was the same basic design as the Conquest Class just a couple of changes like Spa suites
