Barcelona Airport questions

Have any of you flown out of Barcelona before? We have a 1pm flight and were wondering just how soon we needed to plan to get to the airport. How is security, lines, etc? We'd love a little bit of sight seeing, or a scenic drive to the airport, but didn't want to rush if we didn't need to.

You should give yourself about 2 hours to check in. Depending on airline, initial check-in is very slow. Security was tight when we were there, and they do weigh your bags and charge for excess weight. You then need to find your way to the gate. Security personnel are waiting for you there, as well. Someone in our group was pulled-out randomly for an additional security screening which took about ten minutes. Someone else (a teen) started taking pictures while waiting, and security immediately pounced and forced the kid to delete the pictures. After all that, you have to wait for a bus to bring you from the gate to the plane sitting out on the tarmac.

No telling how long or short your experience may be. Give yourself time.

Is there any place to get a quick breakfast before we fly out on Delta?-- If so is that before or after clearing security? we have an early am flight & may not have time to eat at the hotel...

Yes. There is a snack bar/restaurant and a store next to Delta's area. Will it be open? Don't know for sure, but I suspect yes.
