Tinwoman Posted January 7, 2008 #26 Share Posted January 7, 2008 Yes I have never been able to grasp this concept, I could care less, only thing I care about is the captain being competent.;) 1-i do not care who the cruise director is 2-i do not care who the captain of the ship is As for the captain he is just some guy who sails the ship, I wonder if ppl want to meet the pilots of the planes they fly in too.:)
FinelyCruising Posted January 7, 2008 #27 Share Posted January 7, 2008 Yes, some want to at least see 'em to make sure what they 'look' like....since they hold so many lves in their hands and all.....;)
jaz33 Posted January 7, 2008 #28 Share Posted January 7, 2008 I would love to chat to you but I don't know a thing about the blitz. Does that rule me out!!!???? :D Love the list. It took me about 6 cruises to find out who Bill W and Dorothy was. Got an invite to meet Dorothy once but politely refused :D No body asked me but......I love it when a ship is rockin and rollin. gem lady Posted January 7, 2008 #30 Share Posted January 7, 2008 Hi, I always like to see my pilot when I get on a plane. I look for some grey in the hair. This lets me know that they have probably been doing this for a while, perhaps retired military. The ones that look like they are 12 years old make me nervous. As far as the captain of the ship goes, I don't care. I know how to swim. I have not mastered that flying thing yet.

travelinglion Posted January 7, 2008 #32 Share Posted January 7, 2008 A gay co-worker told me who Dorothy was. I just returned from my first cruise and every day when I read the "friends of Dorothy/Bill" entries I was wondering if they were family reunions and how much the people had to gave Celebrity to get their names published. Silly Me.....
SusieV Posted January 8, 2008 #33 Share Posted January 8, 2008 Escalators on cruise ships??? Are we that lazy? There are already elevators if you don't feel like taking the stairs.
marle7 Posted January 8, 2008 #34 Share Posted January 8, 2008 Besides 1 & 2, which I also agree with, this one is the best: 3-late seating is too late and early seating is too early The list just cracked me up. :)
zamgwar Posted January 8, 2008 #35 Share Posted January 8, 2008 LOLOLOL- This is one of the BEST threads I've ever read. I'd love to add to it, but it's perfect. In fact I'm cutting and pasting your whole danged post and sending it out to the 23 other people I'm going to be cruising with in February. FLCruisers Posted January 8, 2008 #36 Share Posted January 8, 2008 This was a great list. My husband and I haven't sailed on Princess in many years, but we STILL talk about how great "Barty Brown" was. I don't know if he is still working on Princess, but he would be enough to make me sign up for a Princess cruise again. He was great.
CathyCruises Posted January 8, 2008 #37 Share Posted January 8, 2008 You guys are all cracking me up! Have to tell my favorite stupid comment, even though it was not on a cruise ship. Right after the Northridge earthquake in LA, I think it was 1994, it had been determined to have struck on a previously unknown fault. An intrepid (blonde, as I am) reporter shoved her microphone into the face of one of the scientists, and asked, "just how many of these unknown faults are there?" To this point that has been my favorite, but both the haircut and altitude comments take the cake! Thanks for the laugh--I needed it! Kaboochi Posted January 8, 2008 #38 Share Posted January 8, 2008 Burtshell, I loved the list. I will especially share your last quote with our group when we sail on Summit in Feb 2008. Here's one I would like to share: If the ship is going down, collect the jackport first, then run! True Story: In 2002 we sailed on Celebrity. On our last night a rouge wave hit the ship port side and the glasses and bottles all hit the floor in the casino just as I hit a $700 win. Some passengers ran through the casino in life jackets and one woman looked at me crying "we're going down". My husband came to get me and I said, "I just hit a jackpot, wait until I get the money". The ship settled back to calm within 10 minutes. After I got the money we walked up drom the casino to our room, sloshing over the wet carpet by the doors that led to the life boats. We said good night to the passangers still waiting by those doors, with life jackets on. Happy cruising everyone Laurie
