PelicanBill Posted September 23, 2007 #26 Share Posted September 23, 2007 I can think of two scenarios that could be dangerous/problems.... 1 - if the wind carries the kite over the ship it could tangle in the superstructure, radars or antennas. 2 - if the Kite drops into the sea, a 22 knot drag could be quite strong, and your kite is suddenly waterlogged and will have to drag into the most turbulent water behind the thrusters. I don't think they want passengers trying to pull heavy things out of the water, leaning over the railing...
S.S.Oceanlover Posted September 23, 2007 #27 Share Posted September 23, 2007 LOL!! Bill, did you ask Carnival for a refund because "they" ruined your entire cruise??? :p Nah I was quite happy with my resolution. I got a free cruise and was allowed to wear shorts on formal night while having a crying baby at my table.:D Not bad considering I was the one that was flying the kite.;) Bill
chitown cruisers Posted September 23, 2007 #28 Share Posted September 23, 2007 not to mention, that if a kite was to fall toward the water, it could hit someone on an at sea waterski or power snorkel excursion.

Rare angelsfort Posted September 24, 2007 #30 Share Posted September 24, 2007 True, but the OP specifically asked if they could bring their own kite to fly onboard the ship. ;) Sorry!! For some reason I read that wrong... not the OP but the Carnival rules part... it struck me as "you can fly a kite from the ship as long as the ship was in port" but going back and reading it again, I see that it's not saying that... it's actually saying you have to fly the kite FROM port, and not on the ship! forgive me!! I'm running on a lack of sleep here!!
thefish Posted September 25, 2007 #31 Share Posted September 25, 2007  I was flying my kite from the stern of the ship When a wind gust caught it, and my feet began to slip. It pulled me off the deck, and into the sea. With the kite a pulling, I began to ski. The wind blew stronger, we began to fly A dummy on a string, soaring in the sky. I landed in Jamaica. The locals said “Hey Mon!” “We don’t know what you're smoking, but can you get us some?”
