MamaTene Posted October 18, 2007 #1 Share Posted October 18, 2007 We sail on November 3 and have heard that passengers are now being advised to turn in the card upon final disembarkation. Is this indeed true? Hope not as we like to add those to our scrapbook of memorabilia for each of our cruises.
Travelrd Posted October 18, 2007 #2 Share Posted October 18, 2007 I didn't have to turn in my card. At least I don't remember turning it in to anyone.

Pam in CA Posted October 18, 2007 #5 Share Posted October 18, 2007 I've been on several Princess cruises where I had to turn in my cruise card but I didn't on the Golden last February. I don't know if it depends on the Captain or the port you are disembarking.
Beryl Posted October 18, 2007 #6 Share Posted October 18, 2007 We were able to keep our cards when we disembarked in May.
gatour Posted October 18, 2007 #7 Share Posted October 18, 2007 Odd. I wonder if it was because their computer system/card readers were down? You know the thing where they insert your card whenever you leave and return to the ship.
2pbears Posted October 18, 2007 #8 Share Posted October 18, 2007 Off the Golden on Sept. 29th and kept our cruise cards.
rdsqrl Posted October 19, 2007 #9 Share Posted October 19, 2007 If you're worried about it, some have suggested going to the Purser a day or two before the end of the cruise and telling them you've lost it and getting a second one -- the first one is deactivated of course, and you can tuck it away as a souvenir. Or, if you see them collecting the cruise cards (note: not Sign and Sail -- that's a different ship!) from those in line ahead of you at disembarkation, just tell them you lost yours in the rush to pack up everything that morning. What's the worst they could do to you -- not let you leave the ship? That'd be a tragedy . . .

We had to have the card with us when we disembarked (Golden on 10/6) so that we could scan off, I guess. We still have our room keys/cards. Enjoy the Golden and Mexico!
