dmeyer Posted September 3, 2004 #1 Share Posted September 3, 2004 I understand that Ship Board Credits can be used for excursions, beverages, etc., but can they also be used for purchases such as cigars and scotch? Also how about using them in the Casino (probably a silly question)? If you don't use them, do you lose them when the cruise is over? TIA
sail7seas Posted September 3, 2004 #2 Share Posted September 3, 2004 Shipboard credits can be used to offset anything you charge aboard the ship. That includes the things you mentioned as well as any salon or spa expenses. You cannot directly offset casino charges with shipboard credit but it was described somewhere here in the last day or so how some folks figured out a way to get cash for the casino. Perhaps they will post it again. I didn't pay attention as it wasn't something that interested me. I posted just yesterday that we on a cruise a few years ago, my DH's name was called the morning of disembarkation to go to the office. We knew he had registered his credit card so could not imagine what they wanted. He went to Neptune Lounge and Concierge handed him cash....the small balance of shipboard credits we had not used up. It never occured to us we would get a "refund" of unused shipboard credit.

elmorejj Posted September 3, 2004 #4 Share Posted September 3, 2004 I was told by HAL that refunds are only available if the cabin credit was from an outside source, eg. family, TA, AMEX etc. Any inside credit from HAL is not refundable......jean
Krazy Kruizers Posted September 3, 2004 #5 Share Posted September 3, 2004 The shipboard credits can also be used towards the $10 per person per day automatic tipping.
