Pride of Hawaii final cruise...

I've been considering booking a cabin on the Pride of Hawaii's final cruise from Honolulu to Los Angeles. However, I've also read that she will be in wet-dock in Hawaii before being transferred to Europe. Does anyone know if the Hawaii will be making her last cruise to LA as Hawaii or as Norwegian Jade?

Ironically, the cabins I'm most interested in are smack in the middle of where the casino normally goes on the other ships like the Hawaii/Jade, so if the trip is to be made post-conversion, I would imagine they're not available.

I'm really hoping the Hawaii comes back to, well, Hawaii once the market picks up again..

The Pride of Hawaii will make its last trip around the Hawaiian Islands starting on Monday January 28th. and will arrive back in Honolulu on Monday morning Febuary 4th. It will leave that same afternoon for Los Angeles still as the POH arriving there on Febuary 9th.

It will then be in wet-dock in LA (actually San Pedro, CA) for one week when the conversion will take place. It will depart from the World Cruise Center in San Pedro as the Norwegian Jade on Saturday Febuary 16th. on a 13 day cruise to Miami via the Panama Canal.

(My wife and I will be on that cruise :D )

I don't know for sure but I don't believe one week is enough time to remove the 44 cabins on deck 6 to put in the Casino. There is another 2 week wet-dock in Barcelona from March 13th to March 30th. I am assuming that it will be installed at that time.

Awesome, thanks! :D I may very well book the 12-day cruise; there's even some suites left, so I'm thinking of grabbing one for the wife and I. I've read a lot of good things about PoH and am sorry to see her leave the Hawaii market.

(Of course, I'm one of those people that wishes the PVSA could be amended to allow other ships like the PoH, which were either started or worked on here, and finished or worked on abroad, to be flagged in the US, for cruises between various US ports. It'd be awesome to take an eastern seaboard cruise, or go direct from Seattle to Alaska.)

Don't think the ship will be back anytime soon for Hawaii cruising. I believe NCL is 'moving on' and going to develop other markets.

There's a whole world out there that NCL has yet to explore -- cruises to Australia, cruises to South Africa, cruises to Asia!

Now if we could just go to all those places on-board ship from a North American port -- that would be great. Who needs an awful and long overseas flight to spoil a great cruise.

I agree that NCL-A will NOT be expanding in the Hawaii market in the near future. Too many other places to run a profitable business.

re: Casino - there was a thread elsewhere that indicated that the casino would not be up and running until maybe Europe. But, I would expect they would begin removing those cabins ANYTIME there are no passengers aboard. It will be a noisy and nasty operation.

I'd be interested to find out. With the modular design they use in construction these days, it's not too difficult to "pop" the cabins back out again. And since the Casino is such a high revenue center, I'm also sure that it will receive nothing less than A1 Priority. :) I’m sure that future Pax will keep us informed as to the progress.

I suppose that the American Crew will be shortly looking for new jobs also..........!!!

Whereas I'm sure installing a casino will be top priority, one has to have time to do it properly. I'll be surprised if they could remove the 44 old "modular" cabins and install a well decorated and functional casino in one week. I really don't expect that will occur until the two week wet dock in Barcelona has been completed.
