Past guest number troubles

Hi all. We went on our first Carnival Cruise in April. On that cruise, we won a free cruise (details in my trip report below for anyone interested), and so we decided on Victory next week.

All summer long, we've been bugging Carnival trying to get our past guest number. They keep telling us they don't have it, the computer is not up to date, it'll be in soon. Well, here we are a week away, and I still can't get it.

Getting some of the past guest perks is very important to us. We don't go on very many vacations, so this may be our last cruise for years. Some may think it unimportant, but we want to attend the past guest party, etc.

Guest relations has told us to write our previous booking number on our boarding pass, and this will work just fine.

Anyone actually done this successfully? Or are they just feeding us a line, and they actually have no clue?

Do you still have any part of your docs from your April cruise? Or your final S&S bill? I'd quit worrying about it, and just take that with you (as proof) to the purser's desk on the morning after you board (won't be quite as busy then), and ask them to check to see if you're on the guest list for the past guest party. If you're not, they'll add your name, and you'll get an invitation! It's a nice party, so I hope you don't miss it.

And......WOW, congrats on winning a free cruise! Lucky you!

I too have been trying to get my past guest # to NO avail. I have spoke with Carnival 4 times now (last cruise was in March) and they keep stalling me. My TA called them yesterday and was also stalled...told him to have me call back in 2 weeks. They said they are 6 MONTHS behind in posting...crazy huh?!? I am going on next cruise shortly and would like to be able to get the perks too.

Thank You Cotton for the info...I WILL take my old docs with me & see what happens if I don't get this straightened out before then.

Fran

P.S. Maybe next time I call I will ask them for a job application....maybe they need HELP posting. Good way to pay for my addiction...hehe

They have been having this problem for months, since before our Glory cruise in May. We all have our past guest numbers, but the Carnival website won't recognize them. I took a typed list of our names, cabin numbers, and past guest numbers to the purser's desk once we were on board the Glory and, sure enough, they didn't have any of us listed as past guests in their computer (it was our sixth Carnival cruise). They entered some information in their computer and said it was fixed, but it wasn't. Half of us got invitations to the past guest party, the other half didn't. I had to go back to the purser's desk and wait while they printed the rest of the invitations.

When you take your info to the purser's desk, you might want to ask them what day the party is just in case you don't get an invitation.

I had the same problem....what I was advised to do, and it worked, was to ask my TA to call Carnival and put my past booking number in a comment field. I also checked with the information desk when we boarded the ship to be sure and we were invited!

There aren't many perks - the PAST CRUISERS PARTY.

Just be sure and let them know at the pier. If you're still worried about it you can let them know at the Pursers Desk so they can be sure and send you an invite.

This is the LAST thing you need to stress out about. Really very small on the scale.

We just got back last week from the Inspiration in Tampa. When we arrived and checked in at the Skippers Club the lady checking us in asked if we were Past Guests. I told her Yes but I was unable to get our number using Carnivals website. She said that was a common problem and continued on checking our doc's.

We really didn't think anymore about it until we returned to our cabin one afternoon and found an invitation to "Past Cruisers Party" placed on our bed.

Maybe they ask everyone just for that reason. Just be sure to tell them when checking in. Have fun!

Hi. That question is asked a lot. Some on here think it's ok to bring a guest to the party, but I think it's a 'privilege' that past guests have earned, and that it isn't fair to bring along someone who has never been on a Carnival ship before. If everybody did that, there'd be no room for the past guests who belong there. Just my opinion.

I had problems with my past guest # too. Called Carnival 3 times and they said they didn't have me listed as a past guest even though they had my previous address from 2 yrs ago!! I called my TA and she also called Carnival and they told her the same thing. So finally I got someone at Carnival who knew what they were doing and it turns out they had a space in my last name! She said sometimes there is a typo, mis-spelling, or the name gets hyphenated. So she got it all cleared up. So maybe you should try and see if they mis-spelled your name or something! And I did have to call back 4 times to get a Carnival employee who knew what they were doing!!

This will be my third cruise. I called Carnival last week for my past guest# and they told me I wasn't a past guest. I gave them the booking numbers for my past 2 cruises and the girl told me that they still couldn't find me as a past guest. 15mins later (on hold) she finnaly got it worked out. As for bringing your significant other to a past guest party, I say go for it. I did and I think it got him hooked onto cruiseing a little bit more which was part of the plan.

If you go to the Carnival website and click on "profile" you can get your past guest number. If it's not there enter in your past booking # and see if that brings it up.

I've been trying to do this for several weeks. I even called my TA and got my past guest number, went to the site and entered the number, and it still tells me I'm not a past guest. Our upcoming cruise will be our third with Carnival.

I can't get my assigned cabin number, either. It might not yet BE assigned, but I can't even get to the place where it says TBA. For the past several weeks, nearly everything I've tried to do on Carnival's site ends with an error message and an apology. They must be having some big problems with their site.

On our Victory cruise there were 8 of us. 7 of us were past cruisers- one was not. We each got a invitation (we even checked on the card that he was a past cruiser-) He did not get an invitation. He went with us anyways. They did collect invitations at the door...and he was told this party is not for him but he can go to the party on the next cruise. He went off to the casino so I can see what the past quest party is all about. I dont think it was rude because I did the party and he went to the Casino. We each did out own thing...and the party is not all that long. Nothing wrong with doing our own thing.

As far as Cotton being a snob....lol

I agree though== a past quest party is for people who have sailed already. if each guest bought along one person who didnt ever cruise on Carnival that place will be more crowded then what it already is.

I understand both viewpoints. It does seem like something you earn, so I lean that way myself. I'd guess I'd make an exception for bringing along a spouse.

Clearly, you have to draw the line somewhere. Bringing along your hubby, your three kids, and your aunt and uncle, even though none of them had sailed before seems clearly wrong.

I lean towards not taking guests but I myself violated this rule when my daughter was 9 months old and she went with her daddy and me. We both were past guests and were invited but she wasn't and was too young for camp carnival.
