We sailed with Jo and Elliott on the Summit. In fact we sat the same table for dinner.everything that Jo has stated is correct. We all had agreat time. We made great friends and that added to the enjoyment.

We had dinner in the speciality dinning room.. the food and service was great... If you are a Captain's Club member you can call sixty days prior to the cruise ane reserve.

We as part of the cruise connection organized some of our own private tours and as Jo will attest to we had a great time.

Truly for those reading this. If you can connect with others via Roll Call - unless you want to be alone and not talk with anyone for 14 days- connecting with this wonderful group made our cruise very special. :) Jo

We'll be on Celebrity next January, in a cc class cabin. Do they have shower doors or shower curtain? Thanks!

Shower curtains, but roomy - bigger than the glass-doored showers we had on RCCL

pstar (also on the Panama cruise with Jo and Michael)

Hi Pat, Just wanted to add that although I brought a gigantic clip I was never smothered by the shower curtain we had. Not sure about others but I only used it to put out a bathing suit on the veranda for a couple of hours. Jo

Did you have lunch in the spa restaurant? If so, how was it?

What were the shops like? Thanks, Laurie

Hi Laurie: The spa restaurant is not a restaurant but rather a small buffet style counter and there are tables and chairs around the area. This is in the thero...pool area. The food was excellent and in fact we would eat there and the buffet:eek: The desserts i.e. the fruit tarts were the best!

The shops were nice. There is a gift shop where I bought a t-shirt (2 for $30 so I found someone who wanted to buy one as well); a liquor store where there are supplies like tylenol, razors, etc. There's a shop where everything is $10. You can find a pocket book if you need one or shawl. I bought a watch in there. There's a beautiful jewelry store and two clothing stores - one for women and one for men. But there are always items in the Emporium area. You'll find CZ rings - 2 for $40; amber and jade jewelry; they'll have a watch day (good names); $1.00 a link for "gold." I bought a necklace and bracelet at the "gold" place and an amber ring. The prices were very good when they were running specials. Things will be on sale as the time goes on. Hope this helps. Jo

Hi - Glenda & Carl! Were you part of the CC party??? We had 85 people for the party and then there were about a core of 25 who met at the martini bar everynight. We have soooo much fun!

I see you are going to Alaska. We also did Alaska via SF on the Infinity and it was awesome! There is still time for you to join us to Europe!!!:p

No, unfortunately, we were not part of that CC party. Didn't find this site until a month ago. Can't believe it, either, because I'm so many other boards it's not funny! Wish we would have been, that's for sure. But, we did have a great time. We had 2 other couples at our table and we all got along wonderfully. Went to the Casino, Chocolate Buffet, the Midnight Buffet and the Shows together. We, also, went to the Constellation and danced several times. Anyhow, wish we could join you in Europe, but Alaska is taking all our funds. We're doing a Cruise Tour and doing a lot of excursions and then I want to do the Panama Canal West from Ft. Lauderdale to SF in April of 2010 for our 25th Anniversary, at least I hope they will still be doing that cruise in April like they have this year and next, thanks for asking though! Nice to meet you!

Can anyone advise as to experiencing difficulty booking dinner in the Normandy Restaurant. I understand we should make reservations very soon after we board the ship.

We would prefer to go there on a "casual" dining evening, as we enjoy dressing for dinner on the ship. Also, do they book by specific time or is it if you have Main Seat dining, then you have Main Seat dining in the Normandy?

Anticipating enjoying an evening there and hoping we don't find we are unable to get reservations.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

we were on the Summit last week and went to book around 3:00pm the first day we boarded-all we could get was 8:30 on tuesday night-think you can book 30 or 60 days before you board-that might be your best bet.

Hi we didn't eat here but others did. I believe you or someone asked these questions and they were answered by others who went. I can say that you can make reservations at any time. You don't have to go at your dining room time. Jo

Jo,

Thanks for the wealth of information. It is so much fun to chat with someone who has been on the same ship we will be on next week. The positive feedback makes it even more anticipated!

I have two more questions. What time is muster? For the first night in the dining room do you go to your assigned table at the assigned time or is it open seating? Thank you. Laurie

Muster - is that the life boat drill? If so it's about 4:30 on the first day. By the way. We were able to get on about 12:00 and there was food, etc. So when they say something like 2 or 4 your room won't be ready at 12 (ours was ready at 1) but there's lots to do.

First night is assigned so if you haven't connected with others to request to sit with them then you will go to your assigned table with others i.e. 4, 6, etc. but seating starts the first night. Have fun!!! I wish I were just starting out and plan to gain at least 10 pounds. Stretchy clothes help! Jo

Hi Jo..!! Thanks for taking the time to answer all these questions...AND for all the positive comments. I was starting to worry...:(

Can you tell me what "drinks" ran...on average? Also...were there many people on board...say 19 or under? Our DD (18) is going with us in April..on the Summit for a Med cruise.! Did you by any chance get a gander @ the teen lounge?

I'm really looking forward to taking some of those classes...(loved your and DH's water paintings:cool:) What types of other classes do they have on board?

Thanks again, Jo....

OK - drinks - They have a drink of the day and they were $4.95. There's a martini bar where you can, for ex. can a 9 drink (2 ounces???) sampler for $10.00. The drinks weren't unreasonable considering the venue but I drink very little. There were very few teens although April may be vacation time for some so there may be some. I didn't see a teen lounge. On the Carnival there was an amazing teen disco but no on Celebrity - sorry (: Still there are great bands- the one, Wave, that some people didn't like, I think she will.

Ok - classes- dance class (swing, meringi (sp), waltz, I highly recommend them. One of the Celebrity dancers will be teaching them. Lots of fun and we learned a lot. There are many seminars especially health related and it didn't seem as it things were being sold. I never went but they looked interesting. There was a computer class. I'm in FL without my cruise connection newsletter so others aren't coming to mind but I'm sure there are others I can't remember. Hope this helps:) Jo

Hey Jo..you forgot to mention the water colour classes that we took.I cannot draw a straight line with a ruler..But John (who was also sitting at our table for dinner togther with his wife Chris ) taught a great class and we had fun.

If you have wine with dinner and don't finish the bottle..they will cork it and have it on the table the next night.

With respect to the life boat drill.. it usually (or always ) takes place within an hour after the ship has "set sail".. Last year we were on the Galaxy out of San Juan. The ship left at about 10 PM and the drill might have taken place after that.. I just can't remember.. In any event the whole thing takes no more than 30 minutes.

Jo,

Rumors have it that muster is around 10pm. I hope the rumors are wrong becuase at that hour I will be showing up in my pj's. Please let us know the deal. Thanks, laurie

The muster drill on 1/26 was at 10:15PM. It can be assumed that each week will be the same.

Drinks run from $4.50 for some domestic beers to $9.00 for some wines and champagne. Daily specials are $5.00 and run of the mill drinks such as margaritas, amaretto sours, whiskey sours, etc. cost $6.00. All drinks have a 15% gratuity added to the bill.

The ship docks at the Pan Am pier. You can generally begin boarding as early as 11:30, but that is solely dependent on how quickly the last week's passengers were cleared off.

:D Thanks so much for the answers to my questions...!!!

***a couple more...!!!

Are there alarm clocks in the cabins?

If you order coffe through room service...do they bring you a carafe? (2-3 of us drinking coffee...)

Does the salon do nail touch-ups? .....as in touching up gel-nails?

No alarm clocks. You can set up a wake-up call.

Room service will bring you a pot of coffee, cups, and accoutrements.

Couldn't tell you about nail touch-ups, but if it's possible to get money for it, they'll probably try it. :p

I'm pretty sure they don't do fills. You could probably call just to make sure but if you have them done the day before you go you should be all set. Jo
