ginam Posted February 12, 2008 #1 Share Posted February 12, 2008 I have my third cruise coming up in May, but this is my first time getting a guarentee cabin assignment. When do you usually get your cabin number? Do you get it before sailing or not untill you board the ship? Thanks
Rare Captain Funtime Posted February 12, 2008 #2 Share Posted February 12, 2008 I have always had good luck with guarantees.... I usually know well before sailing what the assignment is.
ginam Posted February 12, 2008 Author #3 Share Posted February 12, 2008 Thank you so much, I have been kind of nervous about it. Who lets you know your cabin assignment? Travel Agent or Carnival? Thanks again.
mom2girls Posted February 12, 2008 #4 Share Posted February 12, 2008 Sometimes you can find out when you get your cruise documents. The one time I booked guarantee I was thrilled with what I received. I booked a guarantee oceanview room, and received a balcony!
ClerkPatsy Posted February 12, 2008 #5 Share Posted February 12, 2008 I have my third cruise coming up in May, but this is my first time getting a guarentee cabin assignment. When do you usually get your cabin number? Do you get it before sailing or not untill you board the ship? Thanks That's a question that I can say there is no answer to. I've booked guarantee cabins for 4 of my 5 cruises. Of those 4, I got my assignment 30 - 60 out. The last cruise, we did not receive our assignment until we got tot he dock. ginam Posted February 12, 2008 Author #6 Share Posted February 12, 2008 thank you so much, I have been kind of nervous about the whole thing. Who lets you know your room assignment? TA or Carnival?? Thanks again
Kudos2Fly Posted February 12, 2008 #7 Share Posted February 12, 2008 I normally have just waited until I boarded the ship... If you do guarantee then you probably can't change it anyway if you don't like the location.. I have never gotten a bad location with a guarantee. So far I have only have gotten one area that I thought was a bad location.. And I pick that one LOL  Good Luck
ClerkPatsy Posted February 12, 2008 #8 Share Posted February 12, 2008 thank you so much, I have been kind of nervous about the whole thing. Who lets you know your room assignment? TA or Carnival?? Thanks again I book through a PVP and I have received my assignment (the ones I got beforehand) from my docs. If you have a TA and you get an assignment, you can find out through him/her or from your docs. PS - I've never had a bad assignment (even the one I picked for myself :D )
imnance Posted February 12, 2008 #9 Share Posted February 12, 2008 We got our cabin # a few days ago, 70 days out. I booked with a TA but found the # on the Crnival site. One day it was TBA, the next day I had a #.

Rare Terre Posted February 12, 2008 #12 Share Posted February 12, 2008 Usually we know when we get our docs; sometimes not until we get to the pier.
dan40 Posted February 12, 2008 #13 Share Posted February 12, 2008 thank you so much, I have been kind of nervous about the whole thing. Who lets you know your room assignment? TA or Carnival?? Thanks again It could be when you see the luggage porter at the pier. He will have a passenger manifest and give you tags and tell you the cabin number to put on them. No kidding! KroozNut Posted February 12, 2008 #14 Share Posted February 12, 2008 I have always had good luck with guarantees.... I usually know well before sailing what the assignment is. And what can you do if you're not real excited about your assignment?
GoinCruisin Posted February 12, 2008 #15 Share Posted February 12, 2008 And what can you do if you're not real excited about your assignment? Nothing. That is the risk you take with a guarantee... regardless of when you get your cabin assignment, that is your assignment unless you want to pay to upgrade. I don't mind doing guarantees because generally I don't care too much about locations... but I'm kind of spoiled on AFT balconies these days, so I've been booking assigned cabins. You just have to be willing to be put anywhere in the category you book...
dan40 Posted February 12, 2008 #16 Share Posted February 12, 2008 And what can you do if you're not real excited about your assignment? Change your mind and get excited. There will be no other cabins available at boarding time. Dan
BigHilda Posted February 12, 2008 #17 Share Posted February 12, 2008 We did not find out until we arrived at the pier and checked in. We went from 4A (guarantee inside) to 6E (family stateroom with oceanview picture windows on the spa deck)!! It was awesome!
Lover Of H2O Posted February 12, 2008 #18 Share Posted February 12, 2008 I'm 101 days out and found out mine last week or so....it was on the Carnival site when I went to complete our documents. Good luck! (From what I understand from my TA, don't get too attached to one assigned so far out, as it is still subject to change.)

We like to know where we're going to be on the ship from the get-go, and prefer to save our gambling for the ship's casino after we're onboard! ; )
