CArnival Legend or Valor

We are looking to book either the legend or valor for October Western Caribbean. Which ship would you choose. I have been on the Valor and loved it, but never the Legend.

I don't know where these 2 ships are going and also I don't know what home port the Legend is out of so if you could post that info I could probably give you an answer.

Both ships go to the same ports albeit in a different order. I have sailed the Legend and the Conquest. They are very different ships. I like the layout of the Spirit class ships a little bit better, They are big ships but have fewer people and definitely feel less crowded to me. Since you haven't sailed on the Legend I'd give that ship the nod. If you had sailed Legend, I would say go Valor.

One difference could be cost of travel. If Miami is cheaper than Tampa that could make the difference. I would prefer to sail from Tampa because you go under the Sunshine Skyway, also Tampa isn't as big as Miami and is easier to get around.

the valor is a little less money. Valor is out of miami, and Legend is out of Tampa.

We are all in our early 30's

Since you already did the Valor, I would select the Legend. You will really like that class of ship. Then on your 3rd cruise you can decide which type fits for you.

My vote goes with you. DH & I sailed the Valor in 11/06 and again in 4/07. Sailed the Legend in 1/07 in between the two Valor cruises.

We liked the grouping of the late evening entertainment venues more on the Valor (piano bar, karaoke, disco, etc) as they are all grouped together on one deck.

However, the overall deck plan of the Legend was easier to maneuver as the Legend has only one main dining room and you don't have to maneuver over a middle dining room and galley to get to dinner seating if you are in the larger dining room.

Just got of the Miracle last month which has the same layout as the Legend and remembered why we loved the Legend so much. Seemed to us that the evening entertainment energy lasted longer on the Legend and Miracle than on the Valor. Maybe it was due to the months we sailed the ships. Who knows.

Would sail the Valor, Legend or Miracle again in a minute but I still think we enjoyed the Legend the most.

(This is not a paid announcement, but I do credit a big part of our enjoyment on the Legend to the great group of CC members who were onboard for that cruise. Had a great time with all of them and hope to cruise with them again.)

We did Valor in March '07 an just came off the Legend. We loved the Valor and were surpirsed to like the Legend even more.

Valor is more conducive to a party atmosphere around the main pool as it is tiered with a stadium effect. The Legend is more intimate with the pools being divided. I also liked the pools on the Legend better because they had a large 1'-2' wading area that I don't remember from the Legend. That said, on the Legend, there are sometimes only one show at nght, whereaas the Valor has two everynight. Both have at least 1-2 adult comedy shows at midnight. Seems like there may have been more bars on Valor, and that Valor was smokier; part of that is because on the Valor, it seems you have to walk through the casio to get from end of the ship to the other. The Legend is easier to navigate. Valor also has a cigar bar that Legend does not, and trust me, that put out a distinct fragrance even when it was closed.

Don't get me wrong - we LOVED the Valor and are planning a trip on her sister ship the Glory next year. The sister ships to the Legend, the Miracle and the Pride go out of Miami and Ft. Lauderdale and we can't drive that far. But if given equal finances, we would pick the Legend or a sister ship again!

I'm one of the minority who prefers Conquest class to Spirit class. We sailed Valor 3 weeks ago on the Western itinerary and we sailed Legend 2 years ago out of NYC on an Eastern itinerary. I like having 2 dining rooms, since my preferred dining time is 6:15, and I found the dining room on Legend to have more vibration than any other cruise I've taken. I didn't care for the main Lido deck area - it was too cut up, since one midships pool has the Magrodome. I felt like we were constantly running from one end of the ship to the other, and I didn't like having to walk through the casino to reach the main lounge. However, I absolutely loved the aft pool area on Legend!
