SakeDad Posted June 3, 2008 #1 Share Posted June 3, 2008 OK...I know there's not much time as I'm packing NOW to leave for Italy to get onboard the HAL Eurodam until November. I have never been to Europe and need to know what to expect weather wise now through the end of August and what kind of clothes I should take. This will be Northern Europe (Helsinki, Copenhagen, Oslo, Tallinn, Stockholm, etc...) Not a matter of dressy vs casual but cold vs hot, dry vs wet! I'm literally packing NOW as I leave Wednesday morning....I just found out today! I appreciate ANY help you guys can give me tonight! Thanks

I've been in Copenhagen, Oslo, and Stockholm in July/August, and all I can tell you is to expect anything. It was HOT in Copenhagen, warm in Stockholm and Oslo, and warmish in Bergen. The only time it was cold and rainy was when we were cruising the fjords. I've read to expect anything from 50-90 degrees, and I'd say that's pretty accurate. :) Have fun! California Native Posted June 3, 2008 #4 Share Posted June 3, 2008 One of my favorite weather sites is weather underground It gives you the option to look up past history... I've been to the Baltic 3 times the weather is all over the place In May it was a heatwave in St. Pete of 78 degrees In July I wore mittens, scarf, fleece jacket with a gortex jacket over it... www.wunderground.com
calmac Posted June 3, 2008 #5 Share Posted June 3, 2008 Congratulations on your job! I would suggest packing clothes which allow you to layer and also include a waterproof jacket. We sailed to the Baltics in July 2006 and it ranged from warm (St Petersburg) to HOT but that was an unusually hot summer in northern Europe. We never needed to use our rain jackets which was quite a surprise!
Ine Posted June 3, 2008 #6 Share Posted June 3, 2008 Since weather in this part (and norht of here) of Europe is rather unstable, be prepared to dress in layers. It can be nice and sunny one day, cold and rainy the next. www.wunderground.com gives all statistics. See you in Rotterdam on Eurodam.
