Aft Cabins

Would appreciate comments on rear facing cabins. Is the view from the cabin/balcony obscured by the solid panel on the balcony? On the side baconies those panels are rails rather than solid.

Thanks very much!

KruiserKat,

Depends on how tall you are. Standing, most can see over the solid partition (more correctly turmed a bulwork, incidentally: "an extension of the ships sides, above the water level").

Sitting, some people can, and some people can't.

DW is 5 ft tall (short) and has no problem looking at the wake when sitting on the balcony or bed. One cannot see the wake while lying in bed. Take look at the picture. And please keep quiet about those cabins.

We were in cabin 6088 aboard the Nautica and were happy with the cabin and balcony, which seemed to be really private. Perhaps the only thing that we could think of that a VS cabin would offer over the OS cabin would be a breeze. The ports we visited, such as Egypt and Israel did not offer much in the way of a breeze across our balcony. We always attempt to secure an aft cabin because of the view departing ports and the privacy they provide.

Gary,

Those aft cabins are the most popular on the ship and if you have one on Deck 6 then you will have a much larger balcony than the side verandahs.

Deck 7 has still a large balcony but not as big as the ones on Deck 6. Go for it if you can get one.

As you move up from deck 6 the balconies get progressively shallower, such as Deck 6 = L, Deck 7 = M, Deck 8 = S.

Take a closer look at the corner balconies, and you can see the different depths at the three decks.

Garry,

We had originally booked an aft cabin on Deck 7 for our cruise on the T.P. last year from Tahiti to Hawaii but I changed it to a mini suite on Deck 8, as we like the larger cabin and balcony but if I was offered an aft on Deck 6 instead of a verandah on 7, I would take the aft cabin.
